I'm always impressed by TASes, seeing what's possible in the game can truly be astounding sometimes. Also, you know you've seen too many speedruns when you know exactly why a certain maneuver (like flying under a platform to avoid triggering a battle) is done

When the old TAS came out, it was my favorite of all time. This is just on a whole 'nother level of polish. Favorite moments were Pit's arrows during the Plain, Lucas flying past the whole last part of Path to the Ruins, Dedede's ridiculous hammer run, and of course all the multiman battles (Subspace Bomb Factory being the craziest)

Key moments in TAS: 9:00 AI is tricked into doing Bowsercide. Not very effective. 25:01 "I have a snake and I'm not afraid to use it!" Primid self destructs in fear, Lucas and Rope Snake are confused. 52:50 Can't resist having an upskirt of Peach. Actually, my perverted teen self had posted such a shot on Miiverse for 3D World. 59:35 Peach casually blows up herself, rather, a clone of herself. Then back to blowing up actually herself. What fun this is! 1:03:05 Even Tabuu is no match for the Z drop Wrinkle Turnip.

I do like the change to Peach for the maze instead of using Captain Falcon (unfortunately, less showing of moves). Focusing the stickers on explosive power turns her RNG-manipulated Bob-ombs into one shots against the shadow clones, and potentially improves bomb launching.

There are a number of instances where the fastest thing to do is just bounce around a bunch until the character reaches the wanted point. I can control the direction I bounce off of a wall in the same way as Directional Influence, except these bounces are precise to the control stick's individual values (Minus some deadzones) in comparison to regular DI's cardinal and diagonal directions.

Watching this warmed my heart. Not the speedrun but SSBB in general.. I remember playing it with my friends in a game truck in 2010. From that point I begged my parents to get me the game and once I had it, I was always playing it until smash 4 appeared. The nostalgia hits really hard.

Is the 1-Up sound effect (and the spawning of an item box) just a thing that happens when you defeat every enemy of a camera-locked stage fight without taking damage? Truly a masterpiece of a TAS, I remember watching the old tases. It’s crazy to see how optimized the run was compared to the others. The best parts for me is seeing my boy yoshi skip and destroy everything without mercy. Although Peach’s bomb genocide run of the Great Maze is a pretty close second, like man I feel bad for Duon. He has to get obliterated from the universe by her twice while everyone else gets it once. Ouch

Something I kind of want to see for Subspace speedrunning is an "alternate characters" approach where people choose different characters than what would usually be deemed the fastest in a pure speedrun (ie, Mario over Pit, Samus over Pikachu)

Just wanted to note that : Mario, Zelda, Diddy Kong, Link, Falco, Olimar, Ice Climbers, Lucario, Mr Game & Watch, Luigi, Bowser, Wario, Ganondorf, Sonic and, of course, the three secret characters weren't even used in the slightest in this TAS. (Special mention to Wario and Ganondorf who weren't even saved from the Subspace and thus, never really joined the team)
