Good review! I just used mine for a short film this past weekend. It worked well although the battery never appeared full even with full batteries. One thing I loved about it was the ability to put custom names on the audio files, very handy when shooting a short film without time code.
The reason why the battery indicator is "off" is because you need to match the battery type with the type you have selected in the settings. By default it's Alkaline or Lithium. I use NiMH batteries so I select NiMH.
Why so many reviews for recorders would ignore these recorders's built-in mics's self noise and just talking about preamp, why not benchmark them measure it since they are there.
I was actually looking for a recorder to do voice recordings and to use for dialogues, seems like the F3 is better suited for what I need. thanks for sharing.
Hi, don’t think it’s designed to work like that. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, because I haven’t tried it but it’s very unlikely. If it was meant to work that way then Tascam would be the first to mention it, as far as I’m aware it can only be used as an audio interface with mobile phones/tablets or pc/mac, thanks.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Making a video about the v860 mark III would really be redundant, because the the V1 and the MKIII are almost the same flash. Other than the differences pointed out in the comparison there wouldn’t be much to cover, thanks.
I would personally go for the portacapture x6 If I had to choose between the two, the Portacapture is a bit more expensive however, it goes for around 300-350, cheers.
Good luck to those who dare attempt to use this paper weight as a recording interface into a DAW. They "claim" that it can be used for that very thing, which is why i bought it. So far, it's been the biggest piece of shit I ever wasted 300 dollars on
Sorry to hear that mate, I wasn’t impressed myself with this recorder, can’t say Tascam have done a great job with the Portacapture X6. Although there were other minor things I didn’t like about I just pointed out the major ones I managed to pick up, anyway didn’t want to make this video sound like a bash.
