Super good that you lined up each app real time next to each other to compare their look and functionality. Every RU-vid reviewer comparing products should do the same.
Ha! I'm no salesman... although I do like TickTick, I'm not tied to it. I just share what I come across while using it... but I may look at other apps more in 2024. We'll see.
I went from TickTick to Todoist because the former refused (and still refuses, as far as I can tell) to implement 2FA secure login. I need that, and I don't understand why TT won't implement it. It's security 101 these days. Functionality otherwise is basically the same.
You have to know that, when you create a new Task in Tick Tick. So this means, you can have exactly the same userfriendly view like Todoist by editing the input box settings, which you can find when you klick the button arrow on right side. Thank me later :)..
Great vid! I use TickTick mainly due to the fact that Todoist doesn’t allow me to list time like “2pm-3pm” so I have to either manually set it or write “for 1h,” and also the calendar is better.
3:52 If you press Shift+Enter when adding the task on TickTick, you get the same layout and set of options as Todoist. 4:45 I don't know why Tags is not showing on your side but I can definitely add tags in TickTick using the menu same as Todoist. 5:40 Once the task is added and tag is created, it shows the upper case letters. And the next time you enter the same tag when adding a task, it shows the upper case letters. 11:25 You can add a section to the Inbox. Maybe this was rolled out later since this video is 8 months old.
I really enjoy using ticktick premium as it suits my needs and I can understand it a little bit better as the UI is easy. I have watched several videos and I really enjoyed this particular comparison video. Thanks for taking out the time and clearly explaining and comparing these two software products side by side, really appreciate it Joshua :))
Thanks for the comment!! You might be right, although I think Todoist can do a lot of the things you mentioned. But, even if it can't, they are still minor things, in my opinion. 🤠👍
I agree that they’re both great, and I’ve been testing them side by side. After moving from Evernote, I’ve been using Todoist for 3 months. For me, I like it better in how it displays lists, the AI filter creator, and they’re rapidly developing it. TickTick doesn’t seem like it’s being improved as fast. With that said, it’s ahead of Todoist with its extra features that I’m hoping Todoist adds some of soon.
you are completly right ... ; but don´t forget the calendar integration and sync, color-coding, etc. - but mainly it depends on your individual process
Yes, I agree... There are minor things in both systems that are, to me, just little things... But if they are important to you, then that's a reason to pick one app over the other.
Biggest issue with Todoist is that I can't organize my tasks across a single calendar. Each week I need to prioritize all my work across multiple work and personal projects. It makes this process too cumbersome.
Do you use the Eisenhower matrix? It seems interesting but I have yet to use it. Also, how do you structure ticktick and your calendar? I get frustrated having to go back and forth between Google Calendar & Ticktick on my iPhone. This is much easier on my laptop obviously. What’re your thoughts?
Hey there, I personally don't use the Eisenhower Matrix or the Calendar in TickTick. At least not as part of my core workflow. I mostly just use the task management functionality.
In my opinion, I think both Ticktick and Todoist are great todo list apps. Just pick your poison and sun with it. I started of with Todoist for three years then moved to Ticktick this year because I had sync issues with the former.
The only 'show details' I know of is in the List View itself... and basically just shows the first line or so of the task description on the list view. I do have it turned off.
I realize that no amount of logic or comparison will sway me - I like the square-ish checkboxes rather than the circles, and I like to say “TickTick” like another commenter said, so it’s TickTick for life for me! (But I wish there were more integrations 😭)
I'm trying both on Android, and I need to have many recurring tasks. It annoys me that the only way to do this on Todoist is by using natural language processing only.
Thank you for this brother. I’ve been a massive fan of Todoist since the early days and I still love it but there is one super handy tool I wish Todoist would implement (& you already said that their calendar is on early stage so no doubt they will add this): The power to be able to STACK (aka sub folder or folders) on top of each other and by SIMPLY CLICKING or VIEWING on the parent Folder you can see all the other folders which has DATES! This is so refreshing to have because one: (1) You have an instant calendar without putting it into the calendar. (2) Whilst remaining in their own SPECIFIC folders for the OCD people like me, meaning having a ONE PLACE to go if I’m only looking at Work or a specific work company sub folder. I hope I’m making sense cos I’m typing this really quick! This along is a game breaker for me! I still love Todoist as it’s super QUICK & still the FASTEST for me when it comes down to SIMPLE INPUT! #Todoist please IMPLEMENT HAHA :)
The one thing that made me leave Todoist for TickTick is that in Todoist you need to add a comment in order to add an attachment which is mind boggling. This is a #1 priority for me, so move my team to TickTick. Great comparison.. Thank you
