@@SaltyandSweetSnacks "Bolletje Pepsels Pinda". "Bolletje" is the brand, "Pepsels" is the product, though the word has no meaning and then there's the type, "pinda" is peanut. You already tried the "kaas" cheese and there's also "zoute pepsels" which is the basic salted version.

Your reaction to Lays Joppie is the exact same reaction when I first tasted it, I had to control myself because there were moments when I bought that bag of chips almost every 2 or 3 days. It's definitely Dangerous

The molding of the liquorice is that of a (Rijks)Daalder or 2.5 Gulden piece: Gulden=Guilder= Goldpiece and Daalder=Dollar=1.5 Gulden. The Rijks prefix gave it a higher value because it was validated by the government. Salmiak is the special taste of Ammonium Chloride, a bit different salt than table salt, which is Sodium Chloride.

Fun fact about the Joppie chips. They came from a contest where a new flavor of chips was made. There were 3 temporary flavors to try and the winner would stay. Joppie chips won. And I love wokkels for dipping. It is fun to 'drill' them in the sauce. A lot of sauce will stick to it that way.

I have been in the snackbar of Glanerburg (a small place near the Germanborder) were they invented the joppie sauce. In Belgium they don't have the sauce.

@@SaltyandSweetSnacks The joppie sauce is in almost every supermarket available in the Netherlands. Also most of the snackbars have the sauce. With fries it taste good but i prefer 'special' (mayonaise, unions and curry) on my fries.

You can buy Stroopwafels at Lidl supermarket. Lidl is more and more around.

I had never hear of Lidl but it looks like there is one in New Jersey! We will have to go see what other treats they have next time we are out that way

@@SaltyandSweetSnacks there is one in New Jersey, I think in or close to Hamilton/Lawrenceville, Mercer County. It’s a very low budget cheap amazing German supermarket. My in-laws live in Lawrenceville and a Lidl recently opened there.

It's actually pronounced like "strohp wahfel/kook" double oo is pronounced like "oh" in Dutch. The English oo is written like oe in Dutch.

Ok, so, stroopkoeken do not contain Caramel. The filling is based on golden syrup.
