The difference is, Tata is focussed on this project. Mahindra didn't....instead made just another XUV variant. No concept of Mahindra was ever a serious project. Remember the Funster concept?

Bro the main point is all Luxury brand, be it germam or us all are moving towards digital, ana people are liking it, you may accept it or not, and if you are not following the trend then we are the people who will point out fingers on companies specially when it's an indian brand, we complain about not having a ventilated seats on a 12lkh nexon, but I've never seen a people to complain against Audi for not giving a ventilated seat even in a 50lkh Audi A4 or in a 65lkh A6..

Well that's the problem. If safety was important people wouldn't be buying Susuki-Maruthi cars. When the consumer wants guirky gimmick/buttonless interface similiar to their phones, then companies will end up striking a balance between safety and customer satisfaction. The voice assist feature controlling the AC functions will reduce the need for buttons.

@@Aniruddha606 if you closely follow all the auto journalists around the world, you'll know that they heavily criticized the "digital" touch panel buttons on cars in the last 2 years, so much that a couple of Luxury brands reverted back to a physical button structure too. Secondly, physical controls are statistically proven to cause lesser distractions and be more hassle-free while driving according to extensive studies and surveys conducted across US and Europe. For instance, Toyota RAV4 is the highest selling and most awarded SUV in the US within subcompact and compact category (which is for mass market and is financially suitable for most buyers) and one of the most appealing features that goes in it's favor is the physical controls, praised by both the customers as well as auto journalists and independent reviewers.

@@sarvartha-the-everything that's not necessarily true. Customers will obviously pick an option that fits their budget. It's the responsibility of car companies to provide safer options in all price segments and keep the bar raised high. It's good for their business too, as they can tout it proudly.

Yes but actually No. Design like these are architecture based classification, not just style sake. Even Mercedes has a suv with this design. It doesn't matter who designed it first.
