I do a lot of what you do Justin in this video and the bag video. One HUGE tip I've used on 4 tattoos appointment now, and ive never seen anything or heard of anyone else doing this, but seriously it works a treat. After my tattoo is done and wrapped up(longest tattoo so far is 2hours 10min), is I use an instant ice pack, one of the one off one, so I simply crash it when I leave and those 15mins, it so takes the redness out of the skin, also I've never swelled, bruises, blood rush, NONE. I put it done to this, lastly if I ever get a tattoo that longer, I would most likely use 2 pack, ice it in the break time and afterward.
@Ishaan Sinha Damn bro, you making me stressed. I’m getting mine on 5 Nov and I thought it would take a couple days to heal. How big is yours? I’m getting a bicep band
me hours before my first tattoo 👁👄👁 update almost two months later: it turned out amazing!! I had amazing experience and this advice helped a lot update 3 years later lol: it still looks great and im even planning to get my third this summer!
Bring a PILLOW!!! if you’re gonna be laying down! I didn’t have one when I started my chest piece and it’s all I was thinking about. Bring snacks, bring a shit ton of water and sugary drinks, bring headphones and a phone charger and maybe something to squeeze. Distraction is the most important. I was able to get a big shoulder piece with color done in one day when I had all of this. When I didn’t come prepared, I barely get through the outlines. Edit: also bring a sweater. Some people’s body responds to this sort of unique pain by getting cold.
I haven’t slept well in a week freaking out about the pain of getting my first tattoo tomorrow. Lord help me. Lol Update: I got it done yesterday, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
@@elgrifo3011 the night before I barely slept, I kept waking up from the nerves. The pain really was not as bad as I thought. And I’m actually getting a second and bigger piece done next week! If you can’t sleep, take some melatonin with your doctors permission.
Drink plenty of water, eat something, and get a good sleep the night before. I also brought some hard candy with me in case my blood sugar dropped. And if you're really nervous, it's nowhere near as bad as you're expecting:)
Thank you so much! I watched this before getting my first tattoo a year ago and I have another one planned tomorrow, so im rewatching this because I want to remember everything:) You helped me a lot my first time! Thanks!
@@RachelDaSilva it went pretty well. It doesn't't hurt as bad as people make it seems. It felt like a repetitive pinch to me, I'll give the whole experience a 3/10.
I Really appreciate 🙏your Videos I'm 60 years old got my first tattoo about 5 weeks ago getting Moore In a few weeks I try to follow everything you said about making sure you have all your aftercare products available and ready to use. And hydration is so important and A Good meal before your tattoo. My tattoo artist 🎨Told.Me that every artist in the tattoo studio would Like to tattoo me Because my Skin was perfect for tattooing. Made me Feel Good 👍
Our tattoo shops in Delaware are finally opening on June 8. I made sure to make an appointment right away to make up for the 1 I had to miss due to the shutdown. I will definitely take your advice, I try to be prepared for all my tattoos. The only thing is my artists don't want me to pre-shave, they prefer the do it themselves. Perhaps they free I'll nick myself.
That’s awesome Thomas! I’m jealous to hear they’re opening! And definitely have to make up for lost time and tattoos 👌🏼usually shaving with an electric razor you’re fine because you don’t nick yourself from it. I had an artist tell me they like and appreciate when it’s done that way because it’s less hair and less long hair to remove
Getting my first tattoo in 10 days. I cannot wait and I'm consuming all the information I possibly can on how to prepare best for it. My parents are not particularly happy about it, so I really need to take care of it well to prove that I didn't make a big mistake. Since I'm 20, they can't do anything about it but still. 😅At any rate, this video was so helpful! Thank you so much!
@@janeyfanene7443 Lol, you know it! My advice would be to not hide it. If my parents came around to the idea, I'm sure your mom will too. Good luck and remember to eat!
Hi Justin from the UK. Great suggestion, many of them I use myself. The only things I do differently in a way are, I use antibacterial liquid soap to clean my tattoos. Then no moisturiser, I use Second skin called TattooMED. It the best aftercare I think, no scrapping peeling, moisturiser I use are natural ones, coconut butter and argan oil body lotion. Also huge tip I wouldn't get tattooed without now. Take a one off instant ice pack to the appointment. When it done put it on the tattoo, it takes all the redness and soreness out of the tattoo, no blood rush pain, swellings.
2 days before my first long tattoo session, and first big colorful piece. Nerve wracked but excited. Already made my bag up and readied for the appointment. It’s going to be a half sleeve kind of on my inner bicep of a fruit bat with a bunch of colorful fruits.
I appreciate the videos my guy, A lot of my tattoos are from when I was 15/16/17, maybe another around 20.. 26 now and with all this info I have now that I didn't have before, really helps out a lot. I get my tattoo 2marrow under my forearm and i'm even more excited than I was years ago because of the knowledge you spread and inform people on. Thanks again my guy, always looking forward to your next videos on Tattoo care/Pre-care/showing/etc. 🙌🙌
Shaving is a big must! Artists really appreciate when you do more of the hair clearing for them. One thing I would add is make sure everything is fully charged.
Thanks for the after product suggestion! I feel like I got yanked around in different directions on how to care when I got my first tattoo. So much contradicting messages! Super helpful man, thank you!
Many people have different opinions on products. These are what I’ve found to be the best for me and my tattoos so hope they have the same outcome on yours
The last tattoo I had I didn't eat dinner nor breakfast and had a terribile night. I had the appointment at 10.30 am and felt sick even before starting. When I started eating some nuts bars and drink water I felt better and in shape only an hour later. I will never go in foodless again :) thanks for the tips, I will use the electric razor from now on!
Leaving in a few hours for my hip/thigh. So nervous. I'm giving myself all sorts of digestive issues and it wasso hard to sleep well. I'm a lot older than i was with my last one. Jist hoping i sit well for my artist, make it through, leave happy, in good spirits and feeling accomplished. Ahhhh with anxiety disorder, i think the anticipation may be the worst part but I'm doing this for me and purposely pushing my limits in my stage of life. I know I'll be so proud of myself afterwards and best part is, i literally get a lifetime badge of honor. (I'm getting a pheonix). Wish me well guys!
Thanks so much for your videos man. I just started my first tattoo on the weekend and your videos have been so helpful. Decided to go for a 30hour tattoo for my first, might as well dive in right!
it was amazing! definitely will be getting more. i do however recommend shaving before your appt. i let mine grow out so my artist could shave it there and it gave me razor burn that hurt worse than the tattoo lmao.
Literally watching this the night before my first tattoo, it’s tomorrow morning. And I wasn’t even thinking about the sun I was out all day playing basketball 🤦🏽♂️
You rock man, love you'r videos and keep up the good work ,next week it,s my next appointment for finishing my half sleeve and this tips and tricks help me a lot and i hope other people too.See you soon brother.
Thank you so much bro! Hope these are able to help others out because they really do help for me! Hoping to make everyone’s lives alittle better during the tattoo 👊🏼
Like I said in your last video... going to get my first one in two weeks so your videos is kind in a good timing ! Hope you will do more after yours and show how to clean or something after tattoo related good job
