🤣 Even I'll say the revolvers look good. I've always liked those Trackers in particular. Edit: I still stand by my sentiment. Taurus has done a decent job turning around...but they will have to keep it up for many more years before they earn the undying loyalty so many have for them. And I'm still willing to punch anyone who says Taurus is better than Glock and Smith....

I've never understood this belief that you have to have brand recognition type of thing out of an EDC. If I'm going to be pulling my EDC I don't think me and the person I have to pull on are gonna talk about what my brand is and how that is not as good as a glock or a S&W or whatever. I love my Taurus and the fact is I don't care what brand is considered the best. Mine works perfectly for me. That's what matters.

The Taurus 856 is AWESOME!!! For one thing, the barrel is on straight and is VERY accurate. Everywhere I aim my 856, I hit what I'm aiming at. Smooth operation in both SA & DA. Took it to the range once I got it. Fired 50 rounds and the "new" stiffness went away. Have since fired over 300 rounds through my 856 and have experienced no mishaps of any kind. This 856 is a keeper. I would recommend to anyone that may be interested.

I carry my 605 with Buffalo Bore "heavy 38" 38 specials with the 158 grain soft lead SWC with gas check. I get just under 1000 fps and consistently great expansion. I was a cop for a lot of years and I remember vividly the experience of cutting loose with a .357 mag. load, indoors during a drug bust! It took me and the other officer with me about a week to get our hearing back! These Buffalo Bore loads perform as well as most .357 loads, without the terrific noise and recoil.. You should try them! PS: great video!
@PatRMG
@PatRMG 4 года назад
I'll keep my eye out for the Buffalo Bore. I've shot many of their offerings in the past. I've grown to respect their loadings. I shot a 357 without hearing protection ONCE. I don't wanna do that again. I can imagine how loud it is indoors.

I've had pretty good luck out of Taurus guns. But if you do try to use their"Warranty" - good luck ! I tried 2 different times. What a joke! Their customer service is horrible! To be blunt- they are very rude and very unhelpful. Just total ass holes! And when I ordered 2 over priced magazines from them- it took them over 10;months and several phone calls for them to deliver them. I had 3 Taurus guns at the time. I sold 2 of them and gave a brand new,unfired G2C to my son for his birthday. I've dealt with several gun companies over the years.Taurus has the WORST, non-existent customer service in the business. Bottom line- Taurus- decent guns. Horrible customer support. If you ever get a Taurus, just hope you never have to try to deal with them. Be prepared to fix It yourself or throw it in a lake. Just pitiful !

I owned and shot a few dozen Taurus. Their revolvers are spot on. Never an issue to be had. Many of the pistols were modern 9mm semi automatics that worked flawlessly. But my favorite Taurus is the PT-92 semi auto, made in Brazil and imported into Miami back in 1982. I’ve shot the hell out of this pistol and it has Never had a failure to eject or failure to fire.

I've had a 605 for a few years now and it's turned into my favorite carry gun as well. Only gripe I have about it is that with the stock grips, when trying to empty the cylinder one of the spent cartridges always hangs up on the grip, so I never bothered getting a speedloader for it because I assumed it would have the same clearance issue when loading. Other than that I am more than happy and trust that 5 rounds of .357 magnum will be plenty for most any situation I come across while out and about

I have heard disrespects for Taurus for years, own several, and liked the guns, and the price is less than other brands. About 20 years ago I gave my daughter a .38 spl Taurus airweight when she left for college. One night a potential rapist caught her on a pedestrian bridge late at night and put her in a headlock. She jammed the airweight in his ribs and thumbed the hammer back, preparing to fire, while telling him he was about to get shot. he immediately released her, apologized, and was gone. So I am a real fan of Taurus revolvers; they work great!

Have had a little blued steel bobbed hammer Taurus 85 for almost 20 years now. Over the years it slid into being one of my favorite handguns and became the "Always Gun". Multiple thousands of rounds later and multiple bounces off the concrete later, it is as accurate and reliable as ever. I recently put Crimson Trace laser grips on it and it seems likely the little Taurus will still be on me 20 years from now.

I feed my 605 the Buffalo Bore "heavy 38" load with the 158 gr. soft lead SWC HP with gas check. 2 reasons: like you, I have found this load to be fully capable of handling any two-legged varmints I'll ever run into, and since I carry it indoors as well, I appreciate the decibel reduction with the 38s. I also have the option of carrying any number of .357 mag loads when my wife and I take hikes in the mountains here in Wyoming. She carries a CZ 75 compact 9mm, but she is just beginning to look longingly at my 605! Oh, well, I guess two 605s in the family would be OK! God bless you and yours.

I used to own the taurus 605 2” and 85 2”. Sold them but do kind of regret it because a they were great and dependable. I currently own an 686 plus 3”, GP100 3” and Taurus Defender 605 3”. The low cost supposedly “inferior” 3” Taurus 605 shoots MORE accurately at 15 - 25 yards than the higher price revolvers! That said, the 605 3” is pretty painful to shoot in 357 past 15 rounds, but for a low price you get a dependable, accurate firearm with a bright front sight that doubles as a night sight! Also, as firearms and ammo prices have been a rising roller coaster the last 3 years, Taurus has continued to produce quality AFFORDABLE revolvers. Well done and thank you Taurus!!

It has the original wood grips still, but as the eyes are going, I am looking to get a set of Crimson Trace laser grips. The $200.00 + price is whats holding me back. Personally I think Taurus has a few good lines of pistols and crap ton of horrible ones (which obviously give them the rep). But their revolvers, PT92 (baretta clone), and obviously the G2c/G3 are all really good rigs. Unfortunately you gotta wade through the crap to find the jewels.

@Dave Alexander I can agree with you there and with the PT111G2 they (finger quotes) fixed a lot of it in the G2c and subsequently the G3 full-sized. A much better trigger in the G2c with doublestrike capability. MCarbo and some other companies like them are making upgrades to improve this platform some but yea. Taurus could gain A LOT by just doing these basic changes inhouse.

Well I am going to say I am glad you love your Taurus. I have two, well 1... Uh well... My 605 went back for 4 months as the cylinder Chambers were mis-machined. They decided a polished nickel cylinder was the thing. My 66 went back Sept. 15th and is still there... They agreed to replace it and offered a 627 Tracker but it is on backorder with no date estimated for delivery 1 week from 6months. Forcing cone failure. Man up and shoot Rem 125 SJHP Magnum loads. Awesome self-defense load. As for Taurus.. Never EVER again. They do not CARE! While I still carry my 605, I have my replacement S&W M60 w/ 2 1/8" barrel. My Taurus' will be moving on, well at least if I ever get one back!!!

@@PatRMG my 605 was a machining error upon build and undoubtedly a one off... I also carry a stock 605 stoked with some 38 Special +P+ handloads with Lehigh Defender 140 grain bullets along with a strip clip for one reload in my watch pocket. I actually found a superb holster on ... Amazon. Yeah, I know.. but it's a great and very affordable kydex IWB holster. The thing I like about it is that it can adjust so that the revolver fits down into your pants with only the grip coming above the beltline. Mine is the black version and so far it's been great - and the kydex protects it well against sweat. And that's a big deal in Texas. Good vid.

For the last 2 years my every day carry has been a Springfield Mod 2 9mm. I have never owned a revolver or a small gun. If I bought this taurus .357 would it be a hard transition and would it be as good as my Mod 2 for personal protection ?
@PatRMG
@PatRMG 4 года назад
That's a tough recommendation to make. Lower capacity, heavier double action trigger pull, and a couple other considerations. I've been carrying a revolver heavily because the trigger doesn't bother me and I'm pretty decent at sending lead downrange with it. It would depend on your comfort with the revolver vs the Mod 2.

Jack beavers I currently EDC a sig P238 Legion but carried snub nose Taurus and S&W for years. Most of the time it was the 5 shot Taurus Titanium .38 special or the S&W .38 snubby. The .357’s in either Taurus or S&W are too heavy for me for EDC because it makes my pants constantly sag on the one side and I am always adjusting them. Additionally, if you buy the lightweight .357’s the recoil on the rounds is just atrocious, which means getting the second shot on target is too slow. The snub nose .38 revolvers with +P 125 grain to 130 grain ammo has good results and you can carry the revolver all day long and not notice. They conceal very well; Last year I was at a housing eviction where a tough young hillbilly deadbeat was being arrested by the State Police for a number of charges and I was standing less than 5 feet from the officer while he was cuffing the suspect. I was carrying the S&W airweight .38 snub in appendix carry and the officer never knew I had it. He told me to move from behind him and I quietly told him OK but I was on his side (trying to talk low enough that the deadbeat’s 2 buddies didn’t hear me). I moved a couple of feet so I could still watch the two buddies because I figured they were contemplating helping their friend. Fortunately police back up arrived and everything settled down and went OK. But my point is that the .38 snub conceals very well. You can’t go wrong with a snub.

If a semi doesn't go bang, it is out of the fight....if a revolver doesn't ...you just pull the trigger again. I'd recommend a 38 , the 357 are considerably heavier for carry. 38 special is pretty equiv to a 9mm , and in a scandi frame get as light as about 11 oz . Especially if you remove the totally unneeded giganto sissy grips and replace it with classic s&w detective style lightweight grips . Ppl act like these are 500 mags with these outrageous grips lol.

I'm reminded of a story that the ladies will roll their eyes at. A few years back I bought a Taurus 85 chambered in .38 Special +P for my then wife, for Valentine's Day. I thought practically, as men tend to do more often than not. I wanted her to have something she could protect herself with, that was easy to operate, when I wasn't around. What could say love more than that? My sentiments went over like a turd in a punch bowl. She was disappointed in the gift; and I was sad that she didn't care for that particular heartfelt Valentine's Day gift. We have since divorced (surprise, right? 🤣) and I now have the 85. My buddies all laugh at the story, and usually comment that it's probably best that I remain single. They might just be right.
