I bought the poly recently got the flat dark earth. Loving it so far it’s my ankle gun and also carry it as my main if go to less crowded places. I couldn’t find a holster anywhere other than a leather one but it works pretty good and is actually good quality for a Chinese made holster. Great video
Wy wife bought me the 38 plus P poly few years ago, its been great. Ive never had a misfire and it ate every type of ammo ive run through it. Its comfortable and small enough that pocket carry or ankle carry in the winter is a breeze. I see it catching a lot of flak but honestly i dont have any issues with it, im thinking of buying the poly judge now.
I agree, I think it gets flack because it’s not a smith or colt and it’s not to that quality . But it works! I have the judge public defender I did a video on also, I have hade zero issues with also. 👍👍
I've had mine several years. It is reliable, and I enjoy it. I agree that the using a speed loader, It can be done but is difficult. The "river" grips do get in the way. I too usually carry a speed strip as it is easier. My holster I use on made for the Ruger sp101 and those holster work fine. I found that the smaller grip is useless as after firing it I need to adjust my grip and it slows me down for follow up shots. I do have large hands thus the bigger grip works for me. the only other issue is trigger bite. It cuts my hand if I fire over 25 rounds on the web of my thumb as the hammer spurs hits my hand with some impact firing 158 grain mag loads. Thanks for the video.
It’s a really reliable weapon I believe the speed strips are the way to go with that hand gun. You’ll have to post what kind of holster you use might help out some other people looking for a holster lol
How do you like them? What kind do you have the leather ones or nylon or the plastic molded? I been thinking on getting some not sure which ones to get.
Picked up the FDE/Black two tone version, today. It was a tossup as they had two of the model version I purchased and one like yours, but that flat dark earth color won me over.
Love my Taurus poly Snubbie. But it's not a great target day shooter for sure. For one, it's way too hard on the hand to shoot more than a couple cylinders of 357, so it makes sense to load up more on 38 Special I'd you go to the range. Also, both 38 and 357 are still ungodly expensive rounds. But I alternate this and my sig p365 as my EDC. I like them both. Even with just 5 rounds I don't ever feel outgunned by anything I might face, realistically. Even from a Snubbie the mag round packs a wallop!
Rick how small target do you need pump 2 .357 in knife welding punks Chest 5 yards away. This is not the movies shoot it out of his hand are my preference one in chest and one in head.
Well...I just got rid of mine, after running several brands of ..357s, including BB 158s and 180s, the cylinder started to loosen up a little from the crane. Not a lot but...maybe running tons of full bore ammo through it wasn't such a good idea in hindsight. Probably get a Ruger LCR next.
I was one of those people that fell victim to thinking that this would fit into an 85 holster after reading some jerk on the internet say it. I wish I watched this first. lol
That sucks… sorry you didn’t find this video first, unfortunately that is a big part of why I do these is to get everyone’s input on thing. There are so many false statements and then someone els falls victim to the misinformation and spends money on something they didn’t need.😞 but thank you for the comment 👍👍
I just got this unit for home protection. Not being a gun person, this is a first. I am a little guy, 5'5" and 120 pounds. I hear this can really do a number on your hands. Been googling a bit and saw once where Winchester 357 mag, 110 grain is greater in power and gentler on the hand. Is that so? What is the effect on sig elite performance 357 V Crown hollow point? I know I will have to go to a range to get the feel of this revolver, but I want something very effective if I need to use it.
Thank you for commenting. The 110 grain bullet will be easier to handle recoil wise than a heavier bullet. But it will have more power than a 38 which you also can shoot through your gun and they have some pretty jacked up loads for that also the great thing of the 357 is you can practice with 30 eights and it’s a lot easier to handle and it’s a lot easier on your hands and then you can put your 357 loads in for self-defense I recommend practicing a little with those so you know how it feels when you shoot it but for the most part I was just practice with the 38. I Carry v crown in One of my 9 mm they expand really well I would suggest watching some very boring videos on ballistics in the 357 you will be able to see the difference in heavier bullets and lighter bullets in penetration which might be a factor in you deciding what you would want to carry in your fire arm. I hope this is useful for you and if you have any other questions please ask. Thank you again 👍👍
what!!! i thought something was reallyyyyy wrong w mine, it kept shooting sooooo low and i had no idea why, i didn’t fully understand what you meant by “bottom of the dot” or how i should go about shooting like that but i’ll do my best to understand lol
When you line up you sight the bullet does not hit even across the top of sight, it hits where the bottom of the front sight meets the bottom of the notch on the rear sight once I made the correction it was a huge difference 👍👍
Awesome. I’ve been looking for ever for this holster. I went to crossbreed’s but was unable to tell exactly which one it is. COULD YOU PLEASE GO THERE AND LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE IT IS…PLEASE!!! Thanks Rick
I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my text. I couldn’t find the holster you have. The only DropSlide holster that I could find is for a semiauto pistol. Couldn’t find one for the revolver. 😢
@@Rick-uu4iu that is the only pic they show is a semi automatic, when you fill out the drop boxes in the make section that’s where you find the model type. I am glade I was able to help 👍👍
Maybe you can answer this for me. I got Taurus.38 ultra lite, it makes a rattle in the back of the gun near hammer. What do you think is causing that and do you think its something I should be worried about?
Well any noise coming from inside a gun is not good, but doesn’t mean it’s horrible. Iam looking at my 605 and 856. It could be a number of things, but it got me thinking… I have a Ruger super single six 22 that sounds like something is rattling it ended up being the transfer bar. The plate that comes up when the hammer is back to engage the firing pin when the trigger is pulled. I would pull the trigger back some and then shake it to see if you still hear that noise. If you don’t, then I would say the transfer bar is your problem. If you still hear it, I would say something inside where the trigger and hammer reset come together something is loose and I would take it in and have it looked at, but I would almost bet it’s that transfer bar, which isn’t a huge deal. Let me know what you find out..👍👍
It is 5 shots How many do you need?Beats a 2 shot darringer and big gun you would leave in vehicle or at home. I see no problem with it as close quarters weapon.
@@590DM My backup has always been revolver. Most automatic 1. Is it loaded2.Is round in Chamber.3.Safety on or off.Don't have these Questions with revolver.Exduse 25:3
That is a great question, I have a couple of glocks and the stainless 605 also. I like them all lol, they all have different qualities. Like my Glock 26 I like because it is smaller and easier to carry concealed compared to the Glock model 22 which is a full size 40 cal. Now the 605 poly and 605 stainless comes down to personal preference obviously the stainless will be heavier than the poly. Not sure how familiar you are with firearms so I would recommend that you check out all kinds and see what you like. Hold them see if they feel comfortable for you, if it’s easy to operate opening and closing the slide or the cylinder. See what feels right for you. Don’t let anyone talk you into something that your not familiar with. Handle it first see if it feels right for you. Hope this helps you out and sorry that it’s eight pages long LOL thanks for commenting. 👍👍
@@jackrabbit1379 Appreciate the detailed reply. I know Taurus has a really bad reputation, but I also don’t want to drop $600 or more on a snub nose .357 from a more reputable brand, since I’d rather just get a 4 or 6 inch s&w 686 or a Glock 19 at those prices. Gonna have to put some real thinking into my decision lol.
@@mirakekkle9476 correct If you are going to drop that kind of money then I would look at something else, if you go with a smith it will hold its value more than the glock. Right now gun prices are all over the place but they are starting to come down.
@@mirakekkle9476 Taurus has a fine reputation these days. I wouldn't have any reservations buying a Taurus revolver or pistol either one right now in 2021.
A polymer 357 should only be used sparingly and only if necessary I have a friend that said the site flew off the barrel on his if I was going to get a Taurus 357 it would be the 605 in Matt stainless it's a much better choice
Quality control is the key in any fire arms manufacturing I’ve had Smith and Wesson‘s frame crack on a model 27 after about 40 rounds so as long as they are built correctly they will hold up but I do agree the recoil over and over could definitely cause some issues👍👍
Not sure about a model number I know when I ordered it I went to their website and picked it for that particular gun I do not believe it had a model number with it but I may be wrong. 👍👍
@@jackrabbit1379 So how did you get the HKS 36's to work? I was hoping to find speedloaders that would work without modifying/changing the grip on my gun.
@@stevendotson9819 to be totally honest with you I have done nothing, this fits … I don’t know if they very a little or not. I wouldn’t think so. But that one fits, with that being said, it just fits.👍👍
@@jackrabbit1379 I think I was trying to press the speedloader into the cylinder to deep. Mine wont work like that and after practicing with it a few times I believe I can make them work. I also ordered a "Lock Leather" OWB holster from Urban Carry(size 219)and I'll update you when it gets here. I also have a HKS hard case carrier (police type)that I purchased for my six shot speedloaders and it works perfectly. I usually carry a Glock 19 for my CCW but really looking forward to carrying my first revolver(140gr XPB HP). Great video BTW.
@@stevendotson9819 that’s my fault I should’ve said that I don’t push them all the way down to the top of the cylinder and it does take a little practice I have been interested in one of those holsters so when you get it definitely let me know what you think about that that would be awesome the hard case speed loader holder is that a clip type or do you use it with a belt I think you’ll enjoy caring the 357 I carry all different kinds pending on the season LOL but definitely let us know what you think and give us an update on that holster I’m really curious👍👍
It is snappy like most 357’s but not horrible, one thing I do like it comes with the two different grips one just a little longer than the other which makes a little more comfortable. 👍👍
@@therajuncajun6487 I have seen that as well, I haven’t shot Al day using 357 but have shot quite a bit of 357 through it and my girlfriend has also she uses it as her everyday carry. I do agree the weight of it makes a big difference in how it performs.
I have one, shoots better than any snubby I've tried to date; Ruger SP101's (2 and 3 inch), LCRx, S&W ultra lite (I forget the number). My only complaint is the d.a. pull weight; I don't know what it is, but I guarantee it's over 12 lbs. In s.a., I love it but in d.a., not so much.
It’s one of many lol, Iam not saying it’s the best firearm out there just say I have not had any issues with it. I have had some horrible firearms and call them out, one was a smith&wesson but I understand what you are saying. Lol 👍👍
