For those who are interested a translation - rather an explanation. This is a Christmas or rather a winter solstice related folksong. In Latvian language Ziemassvētki literally means celebration of winter- but I will refer to this as Christmas. The utilized refrains or choruses (typical for Christmas songs) in this song are “Totari Totari” (typically found in folk songs of Vidzeme - a historical region of Latvia) and “Kaladū Kaladū” (typical for the historical region - Latgale). There is no particular meaning of these refrains. @@MebesMarcus I can try and translate it but lot of words will not make sense to you if I don’t explain their meaning in folklore and Latvian history. Maybe here are some Latvians who could translate and explain it better then me? But i will try to translate the song and look into it. This song is a modern interpretation of ritual to battle the darkness that comes in winter.

One thing I'm learning is that what people say about someone or something should not be your base of judgment. Instead get to know and experience it and let your judgement come from that. As a Pagan and Priestess of the Goddess and Saint Bridget I have to say that 95% of Pagans love nature of every description and never work with demons. Pagans are mostly gentle, kind and loving people who only want to do good in this world. If you want to find that work with demons you need look no further than big business and the people who do things to benefit them like governments. There is enough food and medicine for every living soul on this planet without tearing down natural habitats and creating mono cultures - that way only lies disasters like famine, climate change, horrific storms and wrecked lives - Pagans haven’t created all that. We don’t carry guns, we don’t sell arms we are not demons!

I was taught Pagan philosophy is " do what you want but harm noone, " Pre christian beliefs hold Herbs. chants, worship, medicines, methods , still used today. Demons are not what Paganism is about. It is about Nature . Many still use spells and magic though they are churchgoers. It is not forbidden but tolerated.

You know it's Christmas holiday season in Latvia when you see people dragging a burning log around their yard and singing Kaladu, kaladu, even though no-one really seems to know what it means. But it is good magic. Christmas is the darkest time of the year = winter solstice. Our ancestors believed that it was important to do all they could to help sun to return and singing songs and that particular word was one way to do it.

@@ligastrazda9723 about every culture across europe had some kind of winter ritual. The Norse would cut a huge tree and set it on fire in their village squares during winter. Heck even here in the states we cut a tree down and drag it inside and decorate it even though it really has nothing to do with christianity but we put decorations on it and either a star or angel on its top so we think it's for christ😉

@@ligastrazda9723 I've looked up kaladu. All I could find was caladu was Portuguese that means silence. Could make sense in a way. It is quiet in the winter most things hibernate and with the exception of the wind and the stillness of falling snow it is quiet.

@Kolnu Andrius did some research on it. Tried typing the title in but it came back spider man. So I typed in the individual words. Found an article on it. The title is called polish my body. Its basically a recap from 2020. It's more less considered a song of healing. At least someone is trying something. Still a good song and I like how they were dressed up in it too.
