Greetings from Taxco, Mexico! In this cinematic travel guide, we get swept away by this charming Pueblo Magico.
Chapters:
00:00 Intro
02:00 Welcome to Taxco
03:55 The Zocalo
07:30 Taxco at Night
09:12 Food
12:36 Things to do
14:55 Final Thoughts
All roads seem to lead to the town's main plaza, known as the Zocalo. Sitting in the shadow of the beautifully detailed Church of Santa Prisca, the Zocalo is a wonderful place to eat, shop, and relax. Head back after dark for strolling mariachi musicians.
If food is what you're after, Taxco doesn't disappoint. Excellent meals can be found a Central Cafe, Armando's Taqueria, and Rosa Mexicano. Don't miss out on the local regional specialties such as Mole Rosa, Enchiladas Jamaica, and the Berta, Taxco's refreshing twist on the classic margarita.
There's plenty to do Taxco besides eat. Get immersed in Taxo's mining history by taking a mine tour. If views are what you're after, ride the Montetaxco cable car to the top of an adjacent hill for sweeping views of the city below. Or head catch ride in a vintage VW beetle to the Cristo Monumental Taxco for even more breathtaking views and to marvel at the base of the 60ft tall statue of Christ.
Taxco takes your breath away and not just because of its impossibly steep streets. It's a proud, sophisticated place that the locals lovingly maintain. It's clean, safe, and it's a place that you'll want to return to again and again. Note: Taxco is located in the Mexican state of Guerrero which, unfortunately, has recently been host to cartel crime and violence. While we never felt unsafe in Taxco, we did notice an increased police and military presence in the city. We encourage you to check for up to date travel information on your home country's state department website and make your own informed decisions before travelling to Taxco and Guerrero Sate.

One of the best visual travel videos of anyplace. But, I've been to Taxco over 40 times. I started a wholesale silver business back in the eights from Taxco. You made the city look amazing and it is. Love Taxco. Good Job and thanks.

Very well done! It's nice to see a travel video that isn't in your face and annoying. Hoping to visit Mexico again some day.

@Nomadic Bard: Where is that unique silver necklace from (that you featured in the earlier part of the video)? I'm looking for Taxco shops featuring unique silver jewelry designs from local artists. Thank you!

Hi! We went to a few jewelry stores in Taxco, but I think the shot you're talking about was from a store along C. Don Miguel Hidalgo near the Pueblo Lindo hotel. I can't remember the name of the specific store, but there's a lot of nice jewelry shops along that street. Thanks for watching and I hope you find some great pieces to take home 😊

The vid was great. The contrived voice twang bothersome. Seemed derivative. I fell in love with Taxco in 1973. Won a ping pong tournament there. Old women sold live iguanas whose lips they had sewn shut. Used to be good geode hunting around there. Anyway, sorry if I got too fussy over the voice thing. It was just distracting.

I see. Well I'm glad you enjoyed it overall, in that case. Next time, I'll focus on making my voice twang less contrived. My affect is derived from my vocal cords, so I'll do my best. 😄

Was this Rich Eisen's voice?

Nope - my name is Alex, and I do the voiceover, the filming and write all of the music. Thanks though - Rich Eisen has an excellent voice, I take that as a compliment!
