“GoaMiles has taken away our business. Goa is a small State and such app-based taxi service is not feasible. We therefore demand that government suspends GoaMiles within 7 days, else we will be forced to come on the streets and also stop plying of GoaMiles cabs in the State,” Sunil Naik of the All Goa Yellow Black Taxi Association said addressing a press conference in the capital on Monday.
The aggrieved members alleged that non-Goans are encroaching into the much-hyped GoaMiles as well as rent-a-car and rent-a-bike businesses but the government is reluctant to take action in the interest of Goans.
“It is also shocking that many non-Goans are operating these cab services but government is tight-lipped on that. We have also brought to the notice of the authorities that despite instructions that cars be rented out to customers from its office premises, these are being delivered to them (passengers) from the arrival spot like the airport,” said another member. They alleged that the app was being operated by a Pune-based agency which is charging ‘huge commission’ from the government.
The Kadamba bus service from Dabolim airport to Calangute and back has also overpowered the taxi service, they alleged. The association members have opposed to join hands with GoaMiles.
