@RedIndian87 John has said in interviews he's never listened to One Hot Minute and considers playing songs from it like seeing your girlfriend with another dude. Because he wasn't involved in it creatively he doesn't feel any attachment to playing it. I'd imagine it just reminds him of darker times unfortunately.
so great to see Dave play this amazing song again the entire album deserves so much more, not being buried by RHCP like they love to do for some reason.
Literally one guy is responsible Fruciante. Won't do anything Josh did either. He doesn't want to play material recorded with the band by other guitarist. It's a shame, he comes across as a bit of a diva but it is what it is unfortunately
@@joshuailes7040 he will play the old stuff Hillel Slovak did before he was in the band, but that’s it. They won’t even talk about One Hot Minute when he’s around. I’m sure it’s the same with the records Josh did with them too. Josh said he doesn’t even speak to John any more. They were friends before John left the band the 2nd time.
@@jiveassturkey8849 But John is friends with Dave Navarro, though. It's documented. The rest of the band also sadly kind of disowned One Hot Minute too, except for Chad. I'm a huge fan of this record, it was actually my first RHCP record. RHCP with Navarro should have been an entirely separate supergroup and should have kept the experiment going.
@@MrDarkcook Kind of like when Flea joined Jane’s Addiction for a little while. That one was strange. I think they all get along. They played a tiny concert with elements of both bands on stage at any given time. There were times when Perry was singing, John Fruciante AND Dave Navarro on stage playing Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song”
Thank you for this memory. I was standing in this audience absorbing this amazing performance with these amazingly talented artists on stage...I am now feeling an absolute loss and sadness at the news of Taylor Hawkins passing. This fan is heartbroken for his family, band members, and fans just like me.
Anthony is a world class singer you twat. Most people don't know what makes a great singer, Anthony ticks all the boxes. he has emotion, incredible tone, masterful delivery, sings in key and pitch most of the time, good enough anyway. His voice is strong and incredibly unique.
@@paulharrisonadventuregearm5457 Anthony needs to have a good night. His performences were like 50/50 good and bad in the last 10 years. When he has a good night he is phenomenal. Like Slane Castle performance top notch.
@@blackwolf4653 he was phenomenal when I saw him...he was on fire. He fucked up once briefly on Californication..but very brief...his voice was in fine form for the whole concert..very clear and just sounded great
@@Koubiak It's cuz "the internet" wasn't a thing back then (like 1% what it is today) and a single bad review or "two thumbs down" from some snobby magazine or TV show critics could shape the public's perception of art. The media back then was like "well BSSM was #1, now they have a new guitarist and OHM is only #4 on the charts and it didn't sell 10 million copies, total flop!". Music industry was covered by the media like it was a competition for the charts cuz CDs were such a huge $$ business back then. On top of that, John coming back and them never playing a single song from that album live was a huge part in making it seem like it was not important to RHCP legacy.
One hot minute is the BEST red hot chili peppers album and absolutely because of DAVE NAVARRO, he literally changed that band completely for one record, listen to every RHCP album and they are the same except for ONE HOT MINUTE
Lol yeah their first three albums sound so similar....... One Hot Minute is a good album and Navarro is a great guitarist, I actually think Chad's drumming on that album is some of his best.
This is the best! I miss Taylor so much and I didn't even know him personally....and it's only bee a few weeks since he passed. Biggest tragedy/loss in rock.
NHC is one great band... I've come to know it because of Taylor's passing, unfortunately, and his vocals mix so well with Navarro's guitar! The band sounds _not_ like Foo Fighters so that's a plus. "Warped" and "Aeroplane" are two of the best songs from RHCP. I hate the current "cult of Frusciante" among the fans and I know Kiedis was drugged out of his mind recording "One Hot Minute" and may have not so great memories from it and wants to forget but it is a good, coherent follow-up to "BSSM."
I was in a band in the mid nineties,and sounded exactly like Anthony singing this song,this is terrible 😞 I usually like him singing,then again maybe he’s having a off day?
This was not about the vocal stylings of Taylor Hawkins. It was about him getting his friends together and having some FUN. I thought it was cool... and Pat F-ing Smear was playing, too!
The backing vocals were totally unwarranted during the guitar solo, WTF! Word to the wise, if you're going to cover a popular mid-90s song with two of the actual people onstage that recorded the song, know the lyrics.
Exactly. The backing vox were here because Taylor can't reach Kiedis high notes on this song. That's why he thanks them before the song. But i'm 1000% ok for the solo. The solo is to be alone. No vocals on it.

Taylor was an awesome singer but his voice sounds thin and strained here. But listen to FF records where he sings lots of harmonies with Dave that was the soul of their music
Jesus, that was cool. Never thought I'd see anyone from the Peppers play this again, especially with the original guitarist (who is da bomb). Too bad about TH, a huge shame. Don't do drugs, kiddies.
Don’t say ridiculous things buddy. I understand he’s dead and his accomplishments are amplified x1000 but in no way shape or form is this better than Anthony singing it
@tony simmons It is a fact that for some reason it was not real. His vocal cords or something were tired. But he was a really good singer anyway! Rest In Peace. (Btw. Good or nothing about a passed soul!)
