She made her own name and the money that came with that, he made his money on the backs of others work, what is more respectable? He tried to trap her into making music for him, she was too smart for that though and re-recorded her albums making what he owns worth much less. Also, in the end he will be at best remembered as a villian and more likely will be someone no one will remember, and Taylor will always be a legend that everyone remembers.

If someone buys your masters for hundreds of millions of dollars u can’t just go out and remake the same songs without their precision because it’s THEIR intellectual permission.. it doesn’t matter if she wrote the songs or not, she wouldn’t have the legal right to recreate them (the same way I can’t recreate a Taylor swift song and sell it online)

The contract, Just like a patent, no one is allowed to recreate it, till a certain time has passed. In her case, the "permission" came 2 years after she left the OG label. But because she is the writer, she no longer had to ask them if she could do it now after that time of waiting had expired. She had now every right to do it without their input. In terms of who won... Well, by her rerecording she is attempting to devalue the worth of the OG albums... Which to some extent she has managed to do... As someone mentioned somewhere, if you have the artist who has the music and you have the other owner of the OG, who are you gonna do business with? The artist who can give you future new songs or the owner of the OGs who can give you ONLY the ones that already exist? Also let's not forget that SHE has veto power over the OG songs as the songwriter (which was a clause in the contract she signed all those years ago), which means EVEN if they talked to the owner of the OGs for the rights to a song for a project SHE could very well say no, and they won't be able to use it. That is how from 2019 'till THIS day you have not heard any of Taylor's OG music in movies, TV series, etc, which was common throughout her career. (The ones you have heard recently are the Taylor's Version). Add to that the massive fan base who is supporting the whole thing and allowing her to somehow reclaim her own music. NEW EDIT: Would like to add the recent comments from Lupita N'yongo that prove the veto power comment I made. the *producers* asked the label for the rights to the song and were denied. Lupita then wrote *directly* to Taylor and explained the *importance* of that song to her and the rights were immediately given. So yeah they might own the OG masters but they cannot profit from them without Taylor's permission *obviously this ONLY applies to the use of the rights, streaming /buying are a totally different thing*

Actually, the attorneys in the documentary said it was a normal NDA that would not have prohibited her from speaking about him. That being said, this was after she sicked her fans on him, and he and his wife and children started getting death threats. He reached out to Taylor out of fear for his kids' safety, and she did nothing. I'm sorry, but a mature adult does not remain silent when children are being threatened.
