Great podcast. 18 years ago when I purchased the TL, Comptech was developing a supercharger kit. There was a lot of hype and owners wanting to pre-order the kit. The only solution at the time was Comptech ACM piggy back controller. Eventually sometime in 2008 AEM F/IC was available. Not an easy solution to get a proper tune which is likely why it was never really successful. Years later, Gerzy developed a Rotrex supercharger kit which had some setbacks, losing the A/C was big on the list and the cost to have functional A/C, made the entire thing unjustifiable. For myself, I ended up with the Comptech kit, purchased new I believe 9 or 10 years ago, put down healthy numbers on stock pulley, stock injectors, stock tune ect ect and retains all stock functions so that's a plus. It was never about chasing numbers with the TL as the platform wasn't capable of doing things a modern performance vehicle can do. The reality is, not many will boost their TL's and it's great to see those that do and do it correctly. Keep up the great work!

They are becoming a different beast tho… lots of people making 1200whp and shit on j swap hatches that run stupid fast times. The j32 block is good for 700ish hp too which is insane. Idk why it took so long for people to figure it out but it’s starting to become better than the K series for Na and boost

Been subbed for some time now. I bought a TL 6 speed in January off my Gfs dad. He was the only owner, baby already had 180,000 miles. Ended up needing to get the power steering hose replaced Thing rips and I cant wait to see where I can take this Car. I live in Ca, legally how much more HP can I get out of the 3rd gen TL

Thanks for long time support 🙏🏽 probably squeezed another 25-30 hp on Bolt ons and tune. Exhaust is very important for flow and more power. If you’re not willing to remove a cat for legal issue don’t expect much gain.

People have been doing this for a long time it’s just been gatekept people on the forums have been making 700+ for years and making pass after pass after pass, the j32 single cam seems to be best for holding the power

You could’ve always turbo a 3G TL, it’s just that there is no off the shelf plug and play kit available currently. There used to be a J&R Turbo Kit back the the days (you can research on Acurazine) but that was discontinued a long time ago. Some of those kits still around but a few of those owners are not active on social medias/youtube etc.

Thanks for providing the turbo build content. 1. Why going to 3" hot side i would think more lag? 2. Can you share the order checklist especially the piping. The inlet to the intercooler looks like one 180 pipe. Pretty cool. Did your fabricator use all that pipe?

3” hot side better flow, going to be going full 3” exhaust to the back eventually. I’ll be getting the car on the dyno once the clutch is in. We’ll see what we make and then compare to after the 3” is in. Should make and considerable more amount of power

@joeygutierrez2657 do a little research. You can build a Frankenstein 3.7. It's plenty of write ups on the different strokes that can be built with the j series engine.

There’s a base map kinda like a preset that tuners have for certain mods and then adjustments are made of that since every car will be a bit different.

Yes sir. Either swap 07-08 ecu, boomslang harness, etc and send it or go full standalone, ie: Haltech/ Fuel Tech etc.

J series is good i had a 03 cl type s fbo turbo making 371whp but my brother literally did just a turbo on his 7th gen k24 accord and custom exhaust making 452whp ill never spend money on a j series again 😂 😂

You have the j32a2. That motor stock can make over 600whp. You could just turn up the boost 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ (as long as you have the supporting mods)

452whp on how much PSI vs. The J...371whp is very low for a boosted J32a2, they can make over 300whp NA.

The ultimate test...u have 3 different J cars .. one turbo.. one supercharger...one nitrous . The difference between all three setups . That will be great
