Her valleys are perfect, she really does what our coaches taught us to do which is cut underneath the ball, that way it’s slides through the air quickly and when it bounces they can hardly get to it
Thanks for posting this match. I'm loving the serve and volley technique. Even though hitting the ball from the baseline is good and has dominated tennis for sometime, excellence at the net is a great way to propell Townsend forward to winning tournaments. As the rest of her game improves she will use her net-excellence weapon to dispatch baseline players like Hallep who rely on hitting the ball hard from the baseline. This was a treate to watch! Expecting more good things from Townsend.
Great hands, great footwork, and great eyes. Love how early she spots the ball. Not just serve and volley, but also return and volley. Great deception too, does not show her racket face early. I am rooting for her and Muhammad at the 2020 US open.
I remember seeing her play years ago. Looks like the typical hard hitter in the women's game these days. Didn't realize she change her game. So beautiful and she serve and volley a lot. Impressive
She sometimes forgets that her strength lies in serve and volley. She should improve her skill and she should be able to reach the quarterfinals of most grand slams.
@@bournejason66 it's not body shaming. if you need to lose weight you need to lose weight. Lindsay Davenport was 6'2, 200 lbs ahead of the 1997 season. She hit the gym hard and got down to 170; in 1998 she won her first major. Serena Williams had to do the same after she was arrogant enough to think she could stroll into tournaments and just win them after winning Miami in 2007 but 3 quarterfinal losses to a much fitter Justine Henin made her get her fat a** in the gym; a much fitter Serena bageled Henin in 2008. You woke folks need to get off this body shaming garbage and get real. Fat athletes don't do well in tennis. Being fat didn't work for Davenport, Serena, Ostapenko, Magui Serna or Martina Navratilova and it's not going to work for Taylor Townsend, I dont care how many people have her back on this.
@@bournejason66 I know exactly what Taylor has achieved. I also know what she hasn't achieved either by being stubborn and not losing the weight. IN A SPORT WHERE MOVEMENT IS VERY IMPORTANT, YOU CANNOT BE FAT. it wont work in swimming, it wont work in soccer, it wont work in gymnastics, it wont work in basketball and it doesnt work in tennis. STOP ARGUING WITH ME and just accept what im saying b/c you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
Taylor is probably the best player in WTA. No support from USTA.... too outspoken...that's how it works... buck the system gets shut down . A crazy world.
