I've used this package so much for years and came back to revisit some ideas. Slight adjustments for the RPO game off the same push motion, adding "pop" as well as stick with the Zone Lock and it's been doing wonders. Always enjoy your content even if it brings pack memories!!!
Good stuff Coach. I frequently like to fold block the backside 3 tech. I have found this to be helpful against a DE who squeezes. He cannot squeeze as much and the fold pins the DE into the fold block. The backside tackle skip pulls around the back block of the guard allowing him a free release up to the back side linebacker. this also creates a wider cut back lane for the RB.
I really like the push with a rotation by the secondary and having the power read coming back opposite the the push. Good vids thus far. Keep on keeping on!
Spencer,Lots of teams have success hitting the pop pass behind the mike to the slot. We did not run slant off the push motion just stick stuff. We were more sprint out this year. That will change in the off season
Always enjoy the videos. Lots of options of push motion...I really like everything you said, I also think if snag is in your playbook it works great of this (mazzone used it a lot) Coach, if you take suggestions for videos, would love to see how you would personally defend y off or h back formations with 3 receivers. Personally, I think from an offensive standpoint the h back spread sets offer the most bang for your buck with run schemes as well as access throws and single side win routes, would love to hear your thoughts on how to defend it
that's cool I understand that. looking at it again I can see that if someone had a running qb I could see how naked bootleg or qb keep to the backside could be there if you do have a team that does roll down to a single high look to the motion since the force player is rolling deep. but maybe just against the over front you have drawn up here. I could see how it wouldn't work against some other fronts
could the qb keep off the zone lock? the blocking scheme reminded me of an iso play with the line splitting big on big on play side and backside linemen working to backside will and leaving the Mike. if Mike takes the tailback or if he blocks him
Coach, while discussing the defense's reaction to the quick motion and having the OLB/SS push wide, could you get the ball out quick to the slot on a slant or hit him on the run behind the MLB?
Hey coach. Just out of curiosity that quick TB screen any thought to putting 1 on a quick slant/skinny post and making SS a hot read to give it a second option against teams that are going to fly to the push motion? At least it makes that SS stick to the 1 receiver and most it could drag the FS over the top essentially blocking 2 with 1. Obviously these are all theoretical may not be practical for the QB if he cant read that quickly but i think that shouldnt be an issue with an option QB. SS sits or crashes to the TB toss it to 1 if the SS presses and follows throw it to the TB. #2 can still press that corner because the pass should be so fast shouldnt get a OPI call. Hope you head out to oregon again this year. This was my first year in the spread scheme always been a Power I guy but I love all of the things you can do with the spread too.
