Just put in my order to TBS yesterday. I am anticipating receiving my WRB with glee. This will complete any need to purchase another Bible ever. I have in my possession NIV's, NASV, ASV, RSV, 1599 GV, ESV. Of all the Bibles I possess, for stable, consistent spiritual growth I need only two : a good Study Bible and a good Reference Bible. The Study Bible I already have. It is The Reformation Heritage Study Bible, edited by Dr. Joel Beeke. The Reference Bible will be, of course, the Westminster Reference Bible. Mine includes the Metrical Psalter for public and private worship. I am excited to be obtaining the WRB. Some time ago, I made a convicted decision to use the Authorized Version---though, not KJV only---I do feel comfortable with my choice, and it has helped most significantly in verse memorization. Along with having abandoned the seemingly never-ending pursuit of trying to find a good modernized translation, it feels good to return to the Bible of my childhood, one that I can trust to convey thoroughly, with historical accuracy, the fully inspired, inerrant holy word of God. The WRB circumvents that quest, and provides the ground needed to focus on maturing in Christ.
I really love this bible. I have the hard back edition. The references are a huge help in understanding the text. Two other bibles that I highly recommend are The Open Bible & The Thompson Chain Reference Bible.
Got the compact just now, very happy with it, even with a defect in my leather it just feels so sleek and well put together. It’s my second premium Bible. Edit: they got these back in stock and I just ordered it. Can’t wait
Derek Gates the Westminster is much easier to read. Even the compact is good. I wouldn’t say it’s a “reader” but the format and layout is much better than the TCR.
Derek Gates I just wanted to say, from personal experience with the Westminster, it goes deeper than the Thomson chain, but I usually have a small Bible with it and use the small Bible to find all the references. Just a tip.
I'm impressed by your Bible review. You do it so well. Keep them comimg. I say this because out of all the ones I watch ,you're the best. I watch a lot of reviews and you do it best. God bless you have a great day.
You're so very welcome, but it's well deserved, I couldn't have been more impressed. Because I am a big fan of Bible reviews, I plan on doing some myself here in the near future. Though I'll be choosing only to do King James version only .I just hope when I start doing them I could be as good as you, and as articulate as you . God bless you now.
This could become my favourite KJV format. I’ve already ordered both bindings from Amazon: calfskin and hardcover. Thanks for your review, and the link to Amazon.
I recently got that very same bible from the KJV Store online and I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I also have a Hendrickson 1611 KJV Bible with Apocrypha which I also like very much. I got it from the KJV Store also, and I highly encourage everyone to get one, if you don't have an original copy of the 1611 KJV.
Imho It's one of the best Kjv Bibles on the market. No it's not bound with all the bells and whistles but the ink, binding, paper and awesome references & archaic word definitions makes it one excellent edition to any bible junky. Unfortunately I traded mine off do to my bible collector compulsive disorder ...or B.C.C.D for short;) UGH I really want to get another one.
Sorry to hear you traded yours off. I just got one in goat skin at evangelicalbible.com for $135. I think they are discontinuing them. I'm telling anyone who might be interested. I'm just blown away because they are usually over $200.
This is a well thought out bible. No red lettering, yea, nice concordance, yea, extra note paper, yea. Dark print, yea. No opinions, yea. If you make columns like newspapers do, I did three to a page you can write allot and not write so big. I use micron 05 pens because they do not bleed through. The price for bible is lower than Anywhere else for a quality bible. They also have this in large print ed.
My only black letter. Excellent cross references. The ribbons were fraying almost immediately. Not a fan of the paste down liner either. It is worth the money though. The fact one can purchase 3 different sizes is also a good aspect. It would be nice to see Schuyler print an edition again.
I hope you got one and love it. I have around 10 KJV bibles in various layouts, sizes and features. Without a doubt, this one pretty much has all the things I like separately in my other bibles.
Excellent bible compared to what? I can get a better quality bible at church bible publishers. I purchased one of these based on reviews that were obviously catering to the publishers so they can continue getting free bibles. The paste down liner and lack of proper edge lining makes this bible highly susceptible to damage and you know it. The best thing about this bible is the references. However, if they can’t get the cover right let someone else do it.
Hopefully, the ensuing four years have softened your dislike of this Bible. Edge lined doesn't always mean quality. Some of the worst build qualities I've had have been edge lined Bibles. A good paste down with a vinyl liner is good stuff. Just look at the Cambridge Calfsplit Concord
