The timing of this message is perfect. My 16u has been questioning his potential and interest in continuing AS he's putting up great numbers. He's 10-3 with an .890sv%. The .890 is caused by 1 silly mismatch where he allowed 11. And another game he allowed 1 and they counted only 6 shots. It cost him a spot on the All Star team he was nominated but the roster clearly shows they picked by sv%. Prior he was ranked #4 of 63 goalies. I've been telling him to focus on finishing strong and worry about next season in April.

Where is he playing and where does he want to get to play goal wise?

He's 16A with the Valley Forge Colonials. VFC has (7) teams for 15-16U A - AAA. AA Spots were taken by incumbents. Previously 14AA with Central Penn Panthers (they won the championship and fell at Districts to VFC). We don't know his goals. He plays very well for a kid that doesn't hunger for the spot. If his internal compass changed direction he would advance.

One thing I'd say is there can be more than one fork in the road, I can look back and say there were at least 2 definitive ones for me. Neither one panned out and I'm just a washed up beer leaguer now, but looking back I feel like I gave up too soon after the 2nd fork for me, could have kept pushing and maybe made something of my career. Would hate to see a kid give up because they felt they missed an opportunity, just fight that much harder for the next one that comes along.

Giving up too early is one of the litmus tests that helps filter out the middle of the bell curve

@@FutureProGoaltending any plans on coming back down? My son, who you affectionately nicknamed Charlie Bubbles, trained with you a few times up in Lake Worth, he'd love another opportunity to be out on the ice with you. He's 15 now and humming along pretty well. A few sessions with the GOAT would go a long way....
