Well today was our final stage, and last day of racing. We raced 5 legs through some beautiful mountain roads between Augusta and Waterville and ultimately ended up at the Pep Classic Car Museum in Gardiner for a private viewing of the collection (definitely a future Throttle destination). The morning rally was our most challenging yet, as we were put into a maze with multiple race cars going different speeds on the same course 😳. After lunch we cruised into downtown Gardiner for a huge home state welcome reception including family and friends from TCC😊. First and second place winners were announced on Main St and then off to the award ceremony for a lobster feast 😋. Team Throttle had its best single day ever with only 17 seconds, which gave us our fourth 1st place finish for rookies and ultimately we earned 4th place overall in our division. Not really having any idea what to expect when we started, we look back and realize what an incredible experience this was. We had no expectations of seriously competing, but as the days clicked on we started getting into a groove and doing pretty well. We will seriously consider this adventure again, and encourage those thinking about it to reach out and discuss. We made great friends and memories and for a couple guys that have known each other for over 40 years, we came home as good of friends or better than when we started. Thanks to everybody that followed along the way and also became more interested as the days went by. We definitely owe our wives a huge thank you for supporting this adventure and hope to see them with us on a future race as part of our support crew. We intend to put together a compilation recap down the road but for now we are going to enjoy the 4th of July holiday weekend. Thanks everybody and we hope to see you all soon!!
