Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto No. 1 in B♭ minor, Op. 23 Daniel Barenboim, piano, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sergiu Celibidache Recorded at the Gasteig (Philharmonie, München), 1991
I was looking around for a video of this piano concerto. Of all things, this is the piece that inspired me to study violin! I wanted to share the stage with great soloists and play those beautiful melodies. Years later, I did! Now I am in a new great love for the piano. When I found this video, I also watched it over and over. I am interested to learn all about Daniel Barenboim, and listen to his work. He is sick right now. I am with him in spirit. What great gifts he has given us!
In 1976 as a student from the Waldorfschule Stuttgart we where invited to assist the rehearsals with Celibidachi of several Bruckner Symphonies and that would make a difference for the rest of my life as example for musicality and artistic perfection.
I am so fortunate to have witnessed such talent during my lifetime. At 80, I have seen and heard a lot of things, and classical music is number one on my list. It awakens several emotions when I listen to it. It calms the storms in my mind and takes me on an exhilarating private trip with flashes of the past.
What would life be without classical music for orchestra, piano, violin, voice and other instruments. Barenboim and the orchestra are marvelous in their interpretation of this concerto for piano and orchestra by the great Tchaikovsky.
Bonjour Je vogue maintenant vers mes 78ans. Michel
@@andreaguarino8207I was just going to say that, I went off him after reading how he left his lawfully wedded wife when she became so tragically ill, poor thing 😥 So much for 'in sickness and in health.. '😖 Also, in a photo of them both, while Jacquline was still alright, the conceited, smug expression on his face struck me...😖
He is an excellent musician but his piano technique is not top tier. He doesn't play virtuoso pieces with the right elan and speed. His clunky recording of the Liszt sonata demonstrates this point
This was the first piano concerto that I had the pleasure to listen to at school way back in 1973,I am 64 now and every time that I hear this I am transported back to happier times.
Absoluut fantasies . So heerlik ontspannend en kalmerend tog ook so inspirerend . 🎶❤🎚🌹
Thanks ! The best performance of Tchaikovski’s piano concert I ever heard- thanks Sergiu Celibidache, Daniel Barenboim and Die Münchner Philharmoniker.
Barenboim is such a powerful, yet sensitive performer! So glad he never stopped performing, even when conducting! (I miss Jacqueline Dupre's gorgeous cello performance so much when I see Daniel.)
He lets the music really breathe, doesn't he? There's a video of his conducting the Munich orchestra of Dvorak's 9th. Listen to that if you get a chance. Most recordings are 48 minutes. His is 55 minutes and you come away with a deeper appreciation of Dvorak's melody.
Can one cry listening to such genius? Yes, I cry. Are such geniuses still being born? Perhaps....but I think that the last century and in part the previous one, wanted to give humanity extraordinary excellence!
He is...how can i explain...the best pianist who could interpret this masterpiece correctly and can give us uncountable pleasure and emotional movement...just the best of bests and amazing pianist. Just thanks my God to give me such a great chance to listen to his play♡♡♡

Today is March 18 2022. Let us continue to rejoice in the sublime works of art that show Russia from her best side, and let us thank God for enabling mere human beings to bless and inspire others as these artists are doing here.
I love Barenboim. But after to know his sad story with his beloved wife, a young cellist, i love Berenboim much more. A very special human being, very special man.❤
Once in a lifetime performance: Daniel Barenboim, Sergiu Celibidsche, and Munich Philharmonic! How glad I am to have stumbled over this video on RU-vid! Thank you for uploading it here!!!!
Nope. Not a world class orchestra by any stretch of the imagination. Some really rough playing there. MPO was always second in quality to their cross town competition. Even Celi’s super generous amounts of rehearsal time and all the money the Munich government threw at it couldn’t make up for that.
BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! This pianist is very new to me. And, I am so very happy that his performance is a reccent video recommend. I love classical music and most especially this Tchaikovsky concerto. Magnificently performed. Bravo!! 👏💕🎶
You probably heard it often bc Van Cliburn won the Russian piano competition playing this (1958). I still listen to his but I've followed Barenboim for 40 yrs.
Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto in B minor is for all Russians what Beethoven's 9th Symphony is for Germans, a hymn to the wonderful life and freedom of unlimited thought!

🎶 Your music is a symphony for the soul! 🌌 The way you intertwine melodies and lyrics is pure poetry, creating an auditory masterpiece that leaves an indelible mark. Well done! 👍🎤
I’ve followed Maestro Barenboim for at least 30 years. He’ll be 80 this summer. For me, his work w/ Edward Said to form the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (made up of dozens of Mid - Eastern young musicians) assures his singular place in the history of music.
