At last!!! A cameraman who keeps the focus on the pianists hands, where it should be, rather than wandering all over the place e.g. the pianist's face, the hall, the audience et al. A great part of the pleasure for piano lovers is to enjoy the technique of great performers. The combination of sight and sound is entrancing. Well done!

The point is you should not applaud untill the piece is not finished, in this case, the suite. It's like clapping between movement of a sonata. As someone mentioned, it is lack of education and understanding of what you are listening to, IMHO

Some of the folks commenting don't seem to realize that this is a NEW arrangement of these portions of the N.S. Pletnev's arrangement and Volodin's playing made me come amazingly close to forgetting I was listening to one person playing one piano and not an orchestra. So glad we got to see Volodin's hands throughout except for a few shots of the audience.

Absolutely amazing how he moves his hands so gracefully. It looks like he is completely immerse in his own world with Tchaikovsky´s piece. Here is the difference between a pianist who likes to play and the one who doesn´t. He played all of it just with the piano, immitating all the background instruments. This is a level of mastery that few will ever witness, fewer will ever appreciate, and almost none will ever themselves attain. I’ve watched the pas de deux portion of this performance probably 50+ times, and listened to Pletnev’s own recording of it another hundred or so. It never gets old. I am aware statements like these risk pretension, but I truly believe this to be the pinnacle of art.
