We need your help. In our industry, the most pressing issue is lack of available talent to serve our millions of clients every day with high quality massage therapy services. This affects all MT Establishments, from the day spa to retail to medical. ALL OF US.
1. As a rough estimate, with 2,077 licensed establishments, as an industry if only half could hire an average of 7 LMTs as Massage Envy clinics do, there are over 7,000 unfilled high paying high quality positions available today.
2. Share this information with everyone in our industry that can help & provide comment.
Higher Education in Texas (community colleges & Universities) need to be able to train potential LMTs & present graduates for licensure to TDLR. Currently the Occupations Code (455.004) states they can but the MT Rules (§117.20) contradict saying they must have education in a “Licensed Massage School”.
We need the rules to match the code.
WILL YOU PLEASE:
1. By May 30th: Click or copy this link (ga.tdlr.texas....) to give comment on TDLR’s Massage Therapy Rules, specifically §117.20 (a) (8), saying that the rules need to match the code. Please paraphrase, with the crux of the argument being that Higher Education already regulated in Texas needs to be able to teach & TDLR must accept their instruction as long as it meets the requirements & guidelines for MT licensure. We need Higher Education to be able to teach potential LMT students & be accepted by TDLR while working alongside TDLR as our regulatory partner.
