Danke Euch Vera und Christian für alle Tips und video, seit gestern bin auch stolzer LR3 Besitzer, leider auch mit Motor schaden, ich hoffe die Fachleute kriegen alles hin.
Well done to everyone, especially Christian for even attempting this monumental task. It's been a privilege to watch this repair and rebuild video with the (required) attention to detail that very few are capable of achieving. I'm so pleased for you all, wonderful job.
They don't do it because of the time it takes and the cost of parts. On a warranty job JLR want the old engine back. When I worked at a main dealer, on a training course, they said the engine is "black box" meaning we were not allowed to strip it. JLR at that time didn't sell any internal components either so we couldn't rebuild it even if we wanted to.
@@billytremoloband7456 yeah, I'd never go back to a landy main dealer. They are a pig to work on and you have ridiculous time constraints in which to do the job. It's no wonder so many shoddy repairs come out of main dealers.
Piston Broke Garage In all fairness to the foreman where I was he never really put us under too much time pressure but there was always moaning from management about efficiency!
The whole brand is a joke from what it used to be sadly.🙁 Always been a British thing to design great car's only to completely ruin them with a major flaw somewhere.🤦
Congratulations to you both, for your skills, patience and stamina. This is without the very best set of videos working on a Land Rover I have EVER seen. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us and I hope it lasts a VERY long time.
Christian, you've rightfully earned the title: Dr Discovery! Very well done on the engine rebuild. Fabian is fortunate to have someone of your ability to work on his car. Now, off to Mongolia for the overlanding trip! P.S. Thanks for the colour commentary and trusty camera work Vera!
It was everything I could do to watch these two videos as I’m terrified of losing my engine. I’ve owned my disco 3 for nearly thirteen years now and I’ve been the only owner. I love her as much today as I always have. I change my oil ever six months and I’m very sympathetic to engines. If I do lose my engine I’ll be bringing her to you in Germany 🇩🇪. I’m very impressed with your videos and your knowledge, I also love your sense of humour. You now have a new subscriber. Thank you for and excellent and very interesting couple of videos.
Thank you. I think your engine is never going to fail. It’s 60% driving behavior, 30% maintenance and 10% luck. I’ve seen well maintained TDV6 engines fail but yours will not. Yes, you can bring it over if it does fail. Christian
We all shared that heart in our mouths moment as we waited for the oil pressure to rise. I was almost as happy as Christian when the pressure came up. Confidence or what? Painting all removable components red for the next tear down!
You are amazing: Your rebuild espisodes helped me rebuild my LR3 TDV6 from scratch and now it runs like a dream. I had a bought a Disco 3 having the whole engine in pieces and nuts and bolts; previous mechanic dismantled whole engine to rebuild it then previous owner decided to sell it as it was because he could not afford to finish the project. So i bought it that way, all engine pieces disassembled by another mechanic piled up in a huge box; im a very mechanical guy; ive done lots of engine rebuilds including a couple of BMW N62, V8 engines but never even seen a TDV6 before until this time. I was armed with only a downloaded pdf manual and your RU-vid video episodes. I did it from scratch to finish and it fired up just fine. Replaced bearings, pistons and rings, did a valve job and reused same crankshaft only polished it; still on standard. All the way from south africa.
Unbelievable job, well done Christian. This job took a huge amount of work and patience. And you did it with a sense of humour throughout (my dad who loved working on cars would have been swearing throughout! 😆). The massive smile on Christian’s face when success was declared was just beautiful. Bravo 👏
Absolutely marvellous to you both the best vlog I have watched in years, brilliant engineering and entertainment well done and Merry Christmas both from the UK.
Fantastic video. What a great ending of the engine rebuild series. Really great work to all of you. It really put things in perspective. I was complaining about replacing the gears and cables in the hand brake module and thought that was difficult 😆 Thanks for the best car/repair/information/therapy channel on RU-vid All the best from Reykjavik
Good evening Christian and Vera. Congratulations for you special care with your land rovers. I personally do not own one, having a mitsubishi pajero tr4 and a hyundai santa fé, but enjoy watching your videos and learn very much with each one. I certainly do not have the same amount of work on maintaining them as you do with yours and your friend's car. Chistian really is Dr. Land Rover. Wonderful job and keep us learning and hoping that you manage to finish well all the tasks.
So happy for you guys. I just finished rebuilding my FORD 4.0L. Is there anything more satisfying than to hear you newly rebuilt engine start and run well? Great job...
I have binge-watched your this video series and subscribed. I am just flabbergasted at what you did. I could listen to that engine run for hours, it's like music. So satisfying and smooth
No words can describe how impressive this project has been. It is very obvious that Christian is no back of a face of a clock. I also love that it it was a three generation project with Poppa and Robin. The ‘oh my god’ count is fantastic also. You are so generous to Fabian with your time and expertise. Beyond impressed.
I will give this work the highest accolade in english. "Not bad, not bad at all". Seriously this is the correct phrase for a huge undertaking done well.
Piston broke garage’s socket trick for the timing belt is a game changer! Makes life 100% easier ! I only used last week while replacing tBelts on a RR sport 2.7
What a great closing scene with Robin and the sparkplug. I was smiling when it started up, I cannot imagine how happy you both must be to move onto something else. You have still not convinced me that the Land Rover deserves to be on the pedestal you have placed it on. Looking forward to your future content.
Yes, better think twice before buying such a Land Rover. I get about 10 mails per week from viewers with serious engine failures. All sorts of problems, non cheap to fix. Christian
I've never heard a smoother, or more powerful diesel engine. Well done, Christian, Vera, Fabian, and Robin. Merry Christmas to you all, and peace and prosperity in the new year!
Fantastic work Christian & Vera, Landrover truly turning every owner into a mechanic🤣!!!....i dread the day my Disco will need this kind of TLC ......simply Amazing stuff.
Bravo !! Very emotional when the beast started, Christian was looking very tired during the latter stages, he needs to have a rest for 10 minutes. Vera was there to help as always what a helper!!
Exceptional work and attention to detail. Imagine if everyone who worked on vehicles had this level of skill and actually cared this much. The Toyota tools explanation was great too and not far off from the truth. I wish everyone the best for the Holidays and new year from a Toyota owner from the States of America
What a wonderful engine rebuild everything are in detail, good job Christian and Vera, I'm waiting of your next project. Thank you very much for sharing your experience 😊
Both of you have my complete respect and admiration for such a brilliant series of videos on Fabian’s engine rebuild. Thank you for sharing your experience 👏👏👏
Fantastic job guys, its been a pleasure to follow along the journey with you, talk about German attention to detail, this was off the scale, the satisfaction you must have felt when she kicked into life after all the work you did must have been amazing, kudos to all involved, but its still makes me happy i have an old Td5 Defender and not a D3, as nice as they are to drive, the work involved in their repair is staggering. Merry Christmas to you and the family.
This has been one epic series Christian & Vera. There has been learnings for everyone, thank you both so very much. Vera, we do care about what you say!! Robin is also a craftsman like Christian. I have no doubt Philipp will also inherit one or more of your many skills Christian & Vera. Your generosity with your skills & knowledge is very much appreciate.
Wow what a fantastic and interesting journey you’ve taken us on I shouted out loud when it finally started and instantly sounded sweet …….watching LR time is my guilty pleasure and very educational well done!🎉
You are a wonderful Engineer, and you have Vera to make sure everything is completed correctly. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Health and Happiness to you all.
That moment when it came back to life must have been so exhilarating and relieving. What a journey, but such an awesome result. Cool sparkplug, must be a hell of a motor to ake that. Special left-handed one too.
You guys are amazing to take on such a huge project you never missed anything to chance very methodical checking every detail but the results were great a brand new engine well done
The joy that must've flowed inside all parties involved upon the first engine start is the kind of joy reserved for very specific occasions within one's life. Congratulations and hell of a job! I'd take an apprenticeship under Christian any day although I don't think he'd like me being very on his way that often. Congrats again!
Christian and Vera wow what a fantastic job you guys did on that engine unbelievable , great video and entertainment loved watching the progress on Fabians new engine 😃🇬🇧👍
Yes as others are saying, well done! After watching all of your Engine Rebuild videos, it's clear that was obviously a huge amount of work. I might suggest creating a dedicated playlist for this specific engine rebuild series so it is easier for people to watch all of them together.
Massive congratulations🥳…..Came back to watch the final conclusion .. I couldn’t miss this!! … Absolutely inspirational and precision engineering masterclass!!…… I’m never gonna try it and will stick to changing the odd lightbulb and leave the rest to the experts!!
I'm starting to watch. What a thrill !!! 😱 Ok, I'm done watching. What a relief ..All of You have done a great thing. I cannot get over it. Christian, you are great !!! There would be nothing without you. Toyota tool was great too😂 Brawissimo !!! 🏆🏆🏆 Now I just keep my fingers crossed for the engine to run properly 🤞🤞🤞
Total respect Christian, Vera and Fabian. Such a pleasure to see it finally start, you had me going with no oil pressure the second time. Would it be possible for you to share how any man hours it took and the cost of parts etc. I must say after seeing every minute of these videos you have my total respect. Well done team. You did a great job. Please pick another project, it’s addictive viewing.
Great set of videos, Vera and Christian are a great team, brilliant banter. Excellent technical information, video and the best bit was when Christian said "have you seen my new torque wrench", Vera replied " have you seen my new Christmas decorations". Top quality, well done. You make engine rebuild fun.
To coin a phrase of Vera’s - OMG!, OMG! - Well done everyone, we didn’t doubt you for one minute 😛. Great videos and first class mechanic skills. Happy Christmas
Congratulations Christian and Vera, a mammoth task completed successfully. It's a wonderful Christmas present for Fabian. And well done to Robin for the spark plug. Simply superb. :-))
Thank you both for an amazing series, but what are sundays going to be for from now on? Great finish to the episode, hearing the engine start was glorious, it must have been so good for you, that smile on Vera's face said it all. Have a great Christmas all of you.
Such an awesome Christmas gift for Fabian! Was a genuine treat to watch the lr motor rejuvenation!! special props for the ocd attention to all the details which make this motor sing better than original English assembly, I am quite certain😇
Working back through your videos - well done Christian, Vera, Fabian and anyone else involved. Best set of videos I have seen about an engine rebuild, in fact most enjoyable set of videos I have ever watched on RU-vid. If and when my 193000 mile D3 engine fails, I don’t think I will be trying to do this myself!
Well done to all involved . It has been a monumental job and a pleasure to watch. Christian deserves a medal for all his efforts and engineering idea's. Hope you get chance to relax and spend some quality time together with your family and friends over Christmas. All the best . 🎅
Mind blowing stuff, congratulations we all cheered when it started! How you did that Christian is beyond belief, incredible skill. It’s like putting a 1000 piece jigsaw together with no photo on the box and blind folded! Superb videos and channel, thanks guys! 👍🏻
You are a rare genius, such perfection is a rarity in even in TOP WORKSHOPS . My only complaint is that you are in Germany and i am in South Africa. I hope the Land Rover owners appreciate the geniuses they have , in you and your wife . I own a " baby " freelander 2 2.2 118kW 2010 ( does much more than " Mall Crall )
I have enjoyed this rebuild so much, you guys have done a fantastic job on a complex engine which was never intended to be worked on to this extent by anyone outside a LR workshop. The moment the engine started was pure joy, I even clapped you! I have a new appreciation for my beloved Discovery 3 and I am inspired to tinker and fettle some of the simpler jobs myself. I replaced the auxiliary heater water pump and the coolant bottle recently, the latter was throwing up an error regarding coolant level, this is now fixed. I look forward to watching your further adventures.
Amazing!! never thought i would be this satisfied watching someones vehicle on the over side of the world running again!, I've been so close to giving on mine but just keep pushing through a section at a time haha!.... Also your more then welcome to trade some of our heat for your cold weather! i bet your shorts don't get to much use being over there haha So stoked for Fabian fingers crossed all goes well
We could use some of your heat. I am so glad we just got done before that cold spell hit us this week. 😅👍 It took us almost 3 months, working constántly on that engine. And we really really are looking forward to your videos. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to you and your wife. 😃🎄🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian unfortunately I don't think my videos will end up very good I've lost some of my footage and forgot click record on other parts haha Will peice together what I can from it but I'm glad the landrover owners have your videos to look to as mine won't end up being in depth enough 🤣 Merry Christmas to you both stay safe 🍻
Well what a mission you Guys have undertaken. The time taken, patience and attention to detail is staggering. Congratulations on the success of the mission, the relief, the smiles said it all at the end. That engine will get to see Fabien through for many years to come...he is a lucky and fortunate Guy as we are as the viewers joining you on this journey..👍
