Dr. paul Alaje should be one the economic team in this government and future government. He's a breath of fresh air. If this guy was in the government. Nigerians will have more hope. It is very sad and obvious Tinubu and cardoso do not know exactly what they are doing. They do what IMF and World Bank tell them, and these are entities that cant be trusted. We are in a really deep mess except the president listen to this man here

Where have all these people been for over one year now. I have been saying this for over a year now. There is also the aspect of controlling demand for the dollar . Now that Dangote refinery is here, demand for the dollar should drop, hence increase value of the naira.

Dr. Alaje, if Nigeria depends on IMF etc loans to run the country and IMF says to Nigeria remove fuel subsidy and devalue the naira, what choices does Nigeria have? Second, comparing Middle-east country with a population of less than 10 million with over 2 million barrels/day to Nigeria with a population of over 220 million with less than 1.4 million barrels/day does not make sense, the income disparity is huge.

They are quick to blame WB and IMF but I ask: 1) is it compulsory to heed IMF and WB advice??? 2) is it compulsory to take their loans and squander on consumption?? 3) what alternative policies have Nigerian economist come up with that will lead us to eldorado without pains, or is their role just to criticise ?? Like they said, " the wages of sin is death".

@@okoyechukwunwike2958 Are serious or you just trying to be stupid? Molly Brind'Amour. In 2022, fossil fuel subsidies in the United States totaled $757 billion, according to the International Monetary Fund

the problem with Nigeria is that we no too much theories but lack the political or even human will to execute,i stay outside Nigeria in most opec members with good economy's still subsidize petrol for there citizens, instead of eradicating the corruption in oil subsidy regime,in reality tell me how oil can go back to 200 or 500 naira again

Cardoso and Wale Edun didn't understand the practical aspect of economics...... They only understood theory.

They keep claiming their policies are yielding results, which stupid results? Results into their pockets? Your reserve that is big for nothing, valueless with your current exchange rate? Smh!

Who will kick out Jagaban in 2027 because of the effects of his economic reforms on the people? People's vote? He has established that in 2023 that he doesn't need Peoples' vote to come and stay in power, unfortunately. That's why his effrontery.

If you like bring back the subsidy... consume cheap dollars and fuel today, suffer tomorrow... Nigeria have been living above it's means and living fake life.. everybody better brace up now and work together to be more productive... let government invest all these savings in education, infrastructure and security... Let's not make the mistake of reversing these policies, let's face it now

You are very funny... So you honestly believe that any so called sacrifice you are making today would lead to a better tomorrow? Like seriously? The same people who made bad policies and enjoyed the the proceeds of bad inhumane policies are still the ones asking you to make sacrifices today as they lay in wait to steal the proceeds of today's sacrifices tomorrow. In all of these, one thing is and would remain constant...those who suffered in the past, are still suffering today and would likely still be the ones to suffer tomorrow...

You my friend have the wisdom that generations before you were not blessed to have.Nigerians who believe this older generation of political actors, will only live in perpetual poverty all the days of their lives.@@opedotenterprise7583
