I've always wanted one of these multi track reel to reel decks. Tascam has a few models like this. Although these are not your conventional tape decks for the average person (mainly for studio or radio station use) they are still really cool and a part of history. That guy is lucky to have this one. Very, very nice!!
this looks exactly like a Japanese Teac 30-4 with the exception of the name and missing the "TASCAM Series" logo underneith the name and the main control buttons are a different color; literally EVERYTHING else is exactly the same. Other 4 channel R2R models made by TEAC had a completely different layout, only the 30-4 had this exact same layout. This would have been very expensive at the time, costing about the equivalent of around $1300 US Dollars in 1978 or well over $6000 today.
It is simply a four channel deck from the quad era. This model is an upscale HOME unit, NOT a studio model. Sync and logic touch controls. FOUR tracks in ONE DIRECTION. When you put a stereo tape in that has info on both sides, you hear the reverse side at the same time and clearly it was recorded at a different speed and you hear the 'mix' of the two stereo tracks at once. Very much like my Sony TC-388 4ch. deck.
@@vintagestereo Thanks for the reply. Interesting you should say that. My Sony needs service, built in 1974, all the grease has turned to PASTE, so it is not in use. HOWEVER, my finest 2 channel deck is a Teac A-6010 from around the same time. It is still like new and I am amazed by it's sound and quality (O:
Hello! Commenting on this video hoping to get a response about an older video. I am going to clean my speaker relay in my marantz model 22, but I’m a little nervous to do it plugged in like you did. Any safety tips?

Nice video, I think he got a good deal, but the best is that he is going to use the TEAC. I know you like to collect but sell some more to people like this. Can't you ship it with DHL?
