My silver face Teac X-2000R reel to reel deck giving a brief demo. This is an extra deck I have and is not in day to day service. This was just a routine run I periodically run on it to keep it finely tuned and running.
Love my X-2000R. I bought it new out of the AAFES catalog in 1983. Had it shipped directly home to California. It's been and still is a beautiful piece of equipment. Still looks like it did straight out of the box!
Beautiful machine. My only gripe, however, would be with the DC servo motor used to drive the dual capstan. They don't last as long as the AC motors used in older Teac models as well as many Akai models. Fortunately, Teac has lots of spare parts still available for these machines, including capstan motors and pinch rollers. I think they have to as many of their Tascam machines use many of the same parts and may still be in use in a professional capacity, at least for archival purposes.
