I appreciate you demonstrated this on a dog that is currently learning. Every other video I found shows an already trained dog sitting, which doesn’t help us out. Excited to start on it. We have had our retired Grey’t for only 8 days and he just learned his name: Xander.
How's it going? Just got mine 6 days ago. He's finally settled in and we are starting to train. He knows no commands yet but kibble and chicken will be his high value foods. If he needs more motivation, cheddar will be the secret weapon.
Greyhounds have been bred to run fast, not learn commands. Our German Shepherd took 10 minutes to learn sit; our Greyhound took at least 10 days. But she got there. Part of the difficulty is because of their anatomy: they are so muscular in the back end and so long-legged that it's actually difficult for many of them to do a true sit. And really, what's a better way to spend an afternoon, running around the obedience ring or napping in a sunbeam?
My puppy knows how to sit and he is only 11 weeks old. It only took a few tries with his duck meat treats. He can give his paw and lie down too. A real smarty.
