Mommy is so scared that she probably won't take treats directly from you. Give her treats, yes, but throw them gently to her from afar. She will eventually warm up to you but in the beginning she's going to need space. Just keep trying slowly but surely. You can do it \o/

Nah he should just leave the food there and see if she eats it, if she does it’s a sign she trusts him cause she knows he came with the food. He should also just ignore her while playing with the puppies because it can make her want to come to him.
Better to be back facing while doing this and in an enosed space with food in hand! Every professional I have seen do this and just sits for as long as it takes (which ends up usually being around 15-20mins average) ALWAYS succeeds!

You may try having a book or something and just laying in the pen while you quietly read. She seems very timid of any sort of approach so letting her come to you is best. It’s great that she doesn’t bite or show aggression, she’s clearly just scared and needs time ❤️❤️ Also, my dog isn’t afraid of people at all but he very much hates when I point my phone/camera at him so maybe set the camera aside to film instead of holding it while you’re in there.

Joey, you can’t force the interaction between you and Momma dog. Yes, the treat situation does work, but only when you let it happen naturally. Have some treats, and just sit there and start talking to her then she is she’ll come take it out of your hand. Chasing her with the treat is not the right way to do it. Please listen to the comments all the right answers are there. You just need to read them. But chasing her with it it’s just going to scare her.
I have a great idea. I think you and Daniel and Manny and Rosanna and the rest of Colleens so called friends should all just line up in a video and say all together at the same time "We do NOT condone her behavoir and we disavow her" Then everyone will stop harassing all of you to say something. Joey, please use the money that we as your viewers donated last summer towards you purchasing a permanent kennel/run in the garden for the foster dogs and hire a professional dog trainer/behaviour specialist who can give you a practical lesson on how to conduct yourself around the adult dogs and how to interact with them positively so that they begin to relax in your presence and trust humans again. You've really been developing your skills as a pet fosterer over the past couple of years but these 2 adult dogs are very different in both breed and traumatic behaviour to any of the other animals that you have looked after in the past and it's quite clear from your videos at the moment that you arn't reading their body language fully and are forcing them in to interactions that they are not at all comfortable with, causing them increased stress. You may be doing more harm than good with your present approach- i don't know for sure because im not a dog behaviour specialist... but everything i've seen online tells me that you shouldn't be forcing the mum in to interactions, you need to provide her with a much lower stress environment where she feels much safer in her pen than she does presently and that you need to stop approaching her and allow her to be tempted to approach you, and any time she shows any attempt to give you positive attention you reward it highly. The point is you would really benefit from the advice of a professional, one to one, who can show you how to set up your room and your routines and all of your interactions from start to finish to give these dogs the best possible chance of successfully being rehomed after they have left you. Turn it in to a video and monetise it if needs be... it'd be really interesting to watch... but please please get someone in to help you because these poor dogs are really traumatised and right now, as well meaning and loving as your efforts are, they are just upsetting them and stressing them out even more. They need you to get professional help, just like you would do if they were throwing up violently and you weren't sure what to do. x

Joey have you thought about putting up a blanket on the side of the dogs kennel and see if it helps with mommas and auntie’s anxiety?! Those see through sides may be too open and scary for them. Also I know you are doing a lot already but sometimes sitting in there for 2,3,4 hrs can help. Not paying attention to them but just sitting on your laptop or phone.
dude, i understood it the first time cus you didn't know better, but the comments have been TELLING you. STOP shoving your hand in her face, instead, sit it the pen and let her come to you over time or she will not make progress. if you dont have time for that, maybe find someone else to do it. also please do some research into dog body language, for example, licking lips, yawning and tail wagging can all be signs of anxiety in certain contexts (this context). That aside, thank you for taking care of them, the puppies are doing great and im glad they get to live their life out of that horrible place

Try talking very softly to mama and auntie and if you want to give them treats, set them down in front of them and let them take it until they are comfortable. Queen Sakura god love her! ❤❤
To help mother i think you should just sit in the pen with her. Dont try to touch her but speak quietly and comforting and she will start to warm up:). Just sitting there will show her your ok. Im 14 and this is how i got my chinchilla, quinea pig, and 2 of my rats that were scared to chill out and trust humans. Before one of the rats past he was still skittish but every animal is different. I think doing this will help mother a lot. Much love joey. I love watching you ❤❤❤❤
It might be an idea to just chill in the room where momma can see you and just read, watch a movie or whatever so she can learn you don’t mean her harm. Also if you’re going to feed her, don’t look at her. Eyeing can mean intimidation.
Sakura ❤ I'd just let the mom come to you. Sit quietly with her with some enticing food (like the chicken) and let her come to you (or hold her a little bit on your lap quietly/still since she's so scared and movement and noise are a lot for her). Cornering her, chasing, trying to give to her, etc isn't going to help. It'll take time. There's just too much chaos going on for her right now. And too much for her to hide behind, too. Small, quiet area, calm, still. She just needs time and work. She'll come around, though. You're great at what you do, you have a big heart ❤️ Thank you for everything you do to help all of these animals. Your time and patience and love (and money). It's not easy, but it's worth it.

I recommend for momma, very slow and predictable movements, along with not looking directly at her. Maybe try sitting in there for a few hours a day turned away from her. Nervous dogs love a routine. If she builds up her courage she’ll come to you. Also licking lips is also a sign of fear. Hope this helps!

With giving momma treats if you start by sitting away from her and throwing food to her and then over probably quite a while you can throw them closer and closer to you. You just have to go super slow. You going to her I don’t think will work it will just scare her to run or paralyse her so she’s so scared she stays in that position. It’s about slowly working towards her coming to you
Just some info: When pups lick their chops, that's a sign that they're stressed, or in that circumstance with the Momma, I believe that's what was going on when you tried offering that chicken💜

Some tips that have worked for me in the past for gaining an animal trust: You could try working one on one with the mother. Sitting still while your in the pen (without crate) and having some treats scattered around and having a treat in your hand and seeing if she will come to you, maying as little eye contact is also a good way since eye contact can be a form of dominant or agression in some cases. Cornering her may cause her to bite out of fear, and licking of the lips is typically a sign of anxiety or submissiveness.
Hey the thing about fearful dogs you need to take away all of their hiding spaces. Otherwise they'll just hide from you for a very long time we have one here that was very fearful because she was abused so she would hide underneath the bed all the time we blocked it off and she slowly started getting better and now we don't have it blocked off and she doesn't try to hide anymore.
You literally have to gain the Momma’s trust. It isn’t her, it’s what she’s been through. Imagine where she came from, no wonder she’s suspicious of humans. Nobody has ever shown her love, so receiving love won’t happen until you work for it.
