I taught my border collie to ride a bike, but he rides on a seat between my legs and puts his paws on the handle bars. One trick to get your dog to like it, is to take it to it's favorite places whether its the dog park, a forest, a swimming spot, or anything where he/she can run around and play. This way the dog thinks that getting on the bike is going to lead to getting to the play place, so it's more eager to ride.

Great tip! I thought about making a seat for her to ride in between my legs with paws on the handles bars like you said you do. I just don’t find it that comfortable for me personally. But I’m glad it works well for you :)

Excellent process. Do you think a bit of a ramp, down and over the back tire /----- would be useful as an on, and off modification?

Adorable! I want to try this technique too! My dog hated being confined on the baby stroller bike attachment.

Very interesting… The plateform is quite smart built, light and strong. Do you have some plan to share ? I’d like to teach my 4 months Border to sit behind me when road is not safe on my way to work.

I would suggest making that platform with taller sides and have her secured with a harness, Safety for you and her should be the number one priority. unfortunately there are no actual helmets for dogs.

I have updated it, with taller sides and a nice harness. Should probably do an update video

@@K9Blueprint please, if possible make a quick video explaining how you DYI this! It's so hard to find bike seats for big dogs, and I wants to go biking long distances with my girl (pictured)

Hi KC and Elsa, I'm a first wave covid long hauler (acute covid April 2020); I still have a constellation of symptoms including neurological and joint pain/inflammation. These come in waves and are worse in the afternoon and especially evenings. Somedays I'm almost 100% (except for constant ringing in my ears and mild brain fog) other times I'm in a lot of pain and/or have a ton of brain fog and/or severe dizziness and low blood pressure and/or severe migraine. I also have atypical anaphylaxis. I get cardiac symptoms, not airway/breathing ones, plus skin and digestive. This means that my hands swell and I can't use my own epipen. I've actually had a paramedic not find a radial/wrist pulse, but have been talking . My mobility aid of choice is Nordic Walking poles because they provide a lot of forward momentum, they take the weight of each leg/Achilles when I walk, and I can tripod on them when I get dizzy. I also used to xc ski race and do ski marathons, so it's really easy for me to poles effectively. However, I can't use them on transit and shopping because I don't "look disabled", so I use a cane. So while I do get seats more easily, this leaves one side of my legs/hips without a mobility aid, and therefor I'm worse at the end of the day. I grew up with Border Collies. I'm just finishing my second round of university as part of a career change into IT (front end web/software development). My career goal is as a digital accessibility specialist (It's a mid-senior level position). I'm planning on getting a BC in about 3 years once I'm settled in my career. Now with long covid I'm seriously thinking about training him/her to be my service dog. [tasking = mobility light pulling especially on stairs and hikes/walks, ice pack/medicine retrieval, deep pressure therapy, help with focus/confusion - petting long fur/retrieving knitting (yes it works for me) . A service dog would especially help with providing two sided mobility - cane on my right, dog on my left, while still making it (somewhat) obvious that I have disability needs - even though I look fit and healthy. (Like really - migraines and dizziness aren't visible. Just because I've been active all my life, especially in distance sports and the outdoors doesn't mean that I don't need the blue/accessible seats on transit and accessible doors/access!) It's wonderful to see someone with a BC service dog! Border Collies almost have their own language. My former career was in special education (mental health, dyslexia, giftedness, learning disabilities, adhd, etc), and my mom is visually impaired. I had a couple of students with Type 1 diabetes - one with a service dog. So I'm pretty aware of the responsibilities and pros and cons of having a service dogs, as well as disability adovcacy and awareness. However, yours is the only channel I've seen with BC service dog. Thank you and congrats on reaching 1K subscribers! BTW your triangular "Don't Pet This Dog!" patches are the best. Wish you had a public email so I could have emailed this to you, but totally understand why you might have chosen not to! Kindly, Liz
