Senton 3 s senton brushless senton faster more power .. ok so sway bars .. is the only thing better ? Your comment trying make it sound like all the things listed senton doesn't have. I don't think an extra diff is a positive. How about overdrive front wheels and one way roller bearings like the yokomo yz10 had way back in the 90s .. 4wd in corners 2wd in straight with better cornering .. that would be an improvement
@Yota RC Garage I just bought one used with 2 batteries and new spare a arms for $200. I love the way it handles, so smooth. Not a fan of the radio though (short range and seems a little laggy)
Excellent Review Sir!! I raced Team Associated 2wd buggy, Stadium truck, 1/8 Truggy and 4wd SC trucks and loved them all! Though my favorite 4wd SC Truck has moved to Tekno SCT 410.3, just a beast on the track!
Don't get me wrong I love my slash cause it was only 369 just a year ago now they are 429 no so much love after close to 500 with tax...this truck at 339 is a game changer
This is a sweet video. This week I've been looking at the Trophy Rat, SC10 Pro2, and the SC10 Pro4. It's great that you can get them with a battery and charger for around $400. When I can, I'll pick one up with some digger tires, to run here in the Wisconsin snow.
Great video, great review & great advice, team associated make some nice trucks, i have the Rival & it is a real pocket rocket, still gotta love my Traxxas Slashes tho 👍🏼
Love your content, keep it up. You're so informative and entertaining. Do you have any options for 1/8 E Buggy's? Would like to see what you think if you get your hands on some for review.
My only complaint the tires are to supple, but it's one of the best vehicles I have ran, I have a tiny track in my back yard and in a small course it's absolutely beautiful so fast yet controllable
Great review. I am going back to RC cars from a go at flying 3D planes. Everything has changed so much. I saw you ran a 100c Lipo for the video and you did recommend a 3s. Can you recommend a 3s battery specifically or at least the best 3s battery specs? I did read that some people say a 3s is too much for this truck to handle and I don't want to burn up my first truck getting back into to RC cars. Thanks!
Great video...was only looking at the short course trucks earlier this week I can only afford the lower end trucks atm...iam saving for something abit bigger 😀 it is a toss up from an excavator, a basher or now one of these as it is very well priced even in Australian dollars .....keep showing us this nice well priced vehicles and maybe some comparisons if that's possible...would be greatly appreciated 👍 👍👍....keep up the great work you have a great channel 👍👍👍 best in my opinion..as I once commented before we seem to have a passion for the same things...🤣😂👍🤣😂👍
Thanks Francis! I've been looking at SCT stuff for a while and trying to decide if I want to get into it. I doubt I'd race, more for fun and zipping around the yard. The Tekno kit is high on my list but $$$$ once you fill out the list of things to buy. Been tempted by the Slash Ultimate. I'd love to see a comparo between the Slash, Arrma, and this.
Should also absolutely consider the Losi 22s SCT for a budget piece of kit if you don't plan on racing.... Coming from a TA Fanboy. But I love the new era competition between the big names! RTR (brushed) for less that $250 delivered is really tough to beat.
This is an old Helion design which was originally sort of based on the traxxas 4x4 slash, or as closely as it could be without copywrite infringement. If you don't believe me, look up the Helion Avenge and compare the chassis.
This and the Rival are proof that Helion could have been a great contender in the RC market. AE/TA made some improvements on some already great products, smart move on their part!!
@@SnarkyRC Thunder Tiger? I thought I heard that once. They have a 8 scale buggy I've watched on Aussie Playground and I've wanted it for years but I'm worried about Part support.
You should also mention that this truck shares almost 95% of it's parts with the TA Rival Mt10 (Probably the best budget basher right now) Which has been available for over a year or so now. Therefore parts are cheap and readily available. Also RPM do a few upgrades such as front and rear A arms. You should totally take a look at the Rival Mt10 too, I own one and it's an absolute blast and for the money nothing comes close.
if you use an FOC capable system with the cruise control of a trx4 will the FOC allow it to get the needed power when it hits an object then slowing back to your cruise setting? I mean if you use cruise control and give it throttle manually it goes back to whatever speed it was set to so I assume FOC would do the same 🧐
I'd be interested to see what you think of the FTX Zorro Brushless .... On paper, they are essentially the same (no lights, but does have a motor fan) but the FTX is just over £200.
Was this on 2s or 3s lipo if on 3s I am thinking about asking for this for my birthday and I have heard that it is not the best to run a 3S in these cars because it will overheat really bad so I was curious if you could make a 2s lipo video
I bought me a Pro4 Sc10 The lights are bright especially at night, when you hammer on the throttle the front raises up a lot I'm changing the tires to pins or lugs and thinking of getting a faster servo so the turning is more responsive...Where can you get a spare net at ?? I've looked all over online can't find it. I did get a fan for the motor when I purchased the truck, But it is lots of fun.
I am looking for a scale RC and like the Traxxas UDR or Losi Super Baja Rey. How does the Pro4 drive compared to those? UDR looks looks live drivng scalelike. (I know UDR and SBR are bigger and mich morgen expensive;)) Thanks for the nice review!
The axle shafts are reversed. The FEMALE end of the slider shafts are angled downward and will bind up over time filling with dirt and grime. This is a slash/Mavrick toss up knockoff. Looks good tho, great value!! Thanks for the vid!
The axle shaft grime thing is a minor issue, they are very easy to clean when you do basic diff maintenance. It takes quite a while for the dirt to accumulate enough to cause issues. But yes, in principle I agree, their position seems silly.
Nice you have good timing I was looking into getting my first short track truck & I’ve been looking at the Redcat brushless truck for 279$ I believe but for about 40$ more maybe I’ll just get this one. But you read my mind I was looking at this truck already because it caught me eye. The only RC I have that is fast is the Redact Windigo which does about 30 mph & I think that thing is fast mostly because I have all crawlers. But as I always say if you don’t have a fast RC you need to get at least one. Or two😂
I’m a TA guy but have been considering a Senton 3S lately. I’m curious that you call this a well sorted truck but the tires aren’t too good, the motor overheats, etc. You still thin this is better than the Senton?
It's a great value RTR SC, for sure, but it's NOT a Team Associated product originally. It's a rebranded Helion Avenge 10SC XLR (now a defunct company). I wonder if TA bought the remaining stock/molds for peanuts and is trying to cash in...
I have the OG version from last year. My understanding that Team Associates bought the design from Helion Avenge 10SC XLR. Anyway, i was looking at the Duratrax Six-Pack SC C2 tires as replacement for dirt. Do you know anything about them or do you have any recommendations?
Will team associated/ thunder tiger discontinue all parts for it like they did with the pro lite and pro rally after 4 years I will never buy a thunder tiger again.
If you where picking your first hobby grade rc and it was between TA pro 4 sc10 4x4 Arrma senton v3 4x4 Traxxas slash 4x4 All brushless versions What would be your pick and why?
My opinion for a first one would be a Traxxas slash, it's a great introduction to hobby grade rc, easy to work on, and most hobby shops have parts stocked for them, then as you learn and advance, move up to your TA, or Arrma.
It seems really well matched. I was using a 100c battery on the test video. I hear on 7-8 minutes of ful bore racing, summer weather, the ESC tends to shut down.
Is this truck any good at racing or is it only good for bashing? I am very tempted to get this and start racing (don't have budget for anything more expensive).
I love the TA products I’ve bought, including my first nitro truggy for the same situation you’re in: couldn’t afford much and it got me to the track. Needless to say I sucked pretty bad out the gate but had a blast trying and learning. Tired got upgraded real quick, most everything else I waited until I broke something or my skills got better. I was you once and I dove right in, didn’t regret it. I’d recommend doing the same!
It will do very well. With 2s batteries, one has to go high kv motors to get the speed. Something 4000-5000kv will get the speed up from 2s batteries.. motor RPM = battery voltage x kv 2s is 8.4 volts x 5000kv = 42,000 rpm as an example
@RCReviewChannelh anks it did very well till my right a arm went immediately 😅time for rpms but I swapped out the esc for old hpi flux that was laying around that's supposed to have up to level I punch yet only goes up to 4🤔 but kept the stock Reedy which it's actually isn't a bad little motor besides its slow on the start like punch wise till the wheels get going...I appreciate the help, responce, and video's also update I have a question did your front sway bar come super tight? Would think would want that to move a bit like most rcs and also atleast on the I race st has alot tight turns after the straight but removing the rear sway helped with handling 🤷
almost everyone's running Losi and Tekno at our track but I'm gonna get this to see how it does.... my Senton just cant keep up with the current competition
Why can't it keep up 50 mph too slow ?? Or is it the driver or car setup .. lower the center of gravity and put heavier oil in rear shocks .. use a decent radio
@@roblapouple7552 I’ve won some heats, but I’m using a stock “basher” Senton trophy truck with a wheelie bar against a dozen modified top of the line race trucks that handle like they’re on rails (with sensored ESCs/motors)
@@JUMBOs-RC so can't compare then .. you using bad radio gear non sensored vs sensored using another ready to run with crappy radio worse tyres and less power is hardly likely to help. Invest in decent radio decent tyres and tune your shocks will make more difference than another ready to run with crappy radio
My only complaint so far is the front A-Arms they seem very brittle. Probably fine for jumping but if you run into an obstacle they snap like a twig. I think I'll have better luck with the RPM arms.
No bashing here. I bought it for me and my son for Christmas lol and on the 1st battery he ran into something and broke A arm. I replaced it with a factory A arm and the first 5 minutes at the track that one broke. I just replaced them with RPM which look stronger. Going to the track tonight so we'll see how they hold up.
Trying hard to see why this is better than senton. It's slower 40 mph compared to 50 .. 60 amp speed control compared to 100 .. tyres u seemed to need swap out straight away because look good for concrete not dirt .. Senton sits higher but u can easily lower the cog / shocks or reduce throw .. only thing I seem to stick out is center diff. But if you want more power to front wheels than back can you set that up or is it only more rear power ?? . Honestly if I had center diff it's just more parts to go wrong I would probably lock it up. What actually makes this better I'm struggling to see it. Also steering under the chassis like a traxas seems terrible
@@RCReviewChannel nope. Just like crawlers, going with budget electronics with a race proven winning chassis is better than that piece of junk associated beginners SCT. We're still talking about value right? Cuz I see no value in a plastic RTR that cost almost as much as the tekno kit.
@@themountain59 Three times the price? Not sure your math is adding up. Plus, the techno is way more versatile as you can convert it to a monster truck or racing buggy.
definitely not the best. Losi by far outperforms and is way more durable. Not a big class anymore but losi usually wins then tekno. will see very few associated
5 times you cut yourself off while editing. Enough of the numbered amount of things that are good or bad, just give a review of the facts and your opinion of it. With the amount of subs you guys have, you should be getting products to review.
