Okay, but what makes the scene where Weiss, Blake, and Yang affirmed that they're a huntress whereas Ruby can't answer so brilliant is that their desires were more of an insecurity than a tangible goal. Yang rejected the desire to be the person she used to be before she lost her arm since the hardships she faced are what made her who she is today. Blake rejected the desire to no longer be a Faunus since being a Faunus is part of who she is, and she won't throw away that part of herself. And Weiss rejects the desire to be a nobody since she won't let her name define who she is , but rather, she'll be the one to define it. None of them want to be the person that they're being offered to become. Yet Ruby's greatest desire is to be a Huntress, a person who can save others. Ruby can't reject it because that is someone she wants to become. But because of all the hardships she faced along with her failures, she isn't sure if that is who she can be anymore.

Can we mention how Blake and Ruby are opposite of how they were back in volume 1? FRICKING GENIUS.

Honestly Seeing the past team Rwby interacting with present Rwby is pretty amazing.

Aint gonna lie, that whole moment with WBY was real chill inducing. Everyone did a really amazing job. But I gotta give it to Karas delivery with Weiss. That whole moment with her was just so powerful. Like - holy hell. Weiss has just been a joy this whole season. Meanwhile, Ruby - [ JFC ] 💀 I kinda feel like a lot of people get to the point shes at, though. That struggle of who am I, what do I want to do, has everything Ive done been pointless....why have my friends been able to get their lives together but I cant. like going through college.. only instead of worrying about a degree or having a solid job its the end of all life as you know it.

Seeing crwby grow since volume 1 made me realize how much love and care is given to the series. It may not be perfect but RWBY has come a long way.

Really loved seeing team RWBY's past selves again. I feel so sad for Ruby, the look on her face after the curious cat jumped in though. Poor girl is going through one hell of a existential crisis.

Everyone's fantastic but I always love Lindsay's comments. Very connected to the character and show in general!

Again, very impressed with this season. I think there are real critiques with the Atlas arc, but I think this season is addressing one of those critiques of not spending enough time with the main characters.

Honestly, Im not sure if this was actually intended by the RWBY writers, but something that I realized while watching episode 4, is the fact that Blake, Yang and Weiss are all trying to talk themselves down, or come to a conclusion, and their current selves tell the past selves that they're huntresses, however Ruby's the one talking herself up, trying to be positive, but what i find interesting with that is the fact that back in Volume 2 when the group was out with Dr. Ooblek, is the fact that Ooblek asked Weiss, Blake and Yang why they wants to become huntresses, however when Yang asked Ruby if Ooblek asked her, she said that he didn't ask "huh, no he didn't... weird..."

People can say what they want about the plot after Volume 3, but for me its done nothing but expand the world and develop it's characters in a much needed way. I honestly do not see anything in the way that the series has continued that warrants aggression towards the writers or the team. I'm a RWBY fan forever.

It was pretty sinister to hear old Ruby talk the way she did to current Ruby. There was almost a sense of cruelty in the way she smiled, emoted, all of while talking about Ruby's burdens and her mother's death.

Ruby's talk with herself definitely shook her to her core. I hope she can find out who she really is. And I pray that Ruby never give up no matter what. 😢❤️🌹🥀❤️

I'm concern about what answer Ruby will reached in the end. Hopefully she'll find it 'Inside'.

I was 12 when it first came out, and I didn't even know it existed. Now it's my favorite thing since 2018

Now Blake is the happy one and Ruby is the emo one. lol

Everyone has grown so much and is so much more confident in their beliefs and convictions, but ruby has become more cynical and jaded to the point she feels more lost.

I cried so much this volume.... I literally have been feeling exactly like Ruby. I've watched this show my entire 20s as well and it's very shocking and amazing to see how this show has grown and continues to awe me and emotionally move me and shock me and piss me off. I don't understand how we got so lucky to have RWBY but I'm so happy we get to.

Kerry, I've watched the show. I've seen the passing of the seasons in different areas. I know the birthdays of team RWBY. I've heard your statement that the school years start in the fall. I've looked at the map of Remnant and the different climates the regions exist in. And I can tell you, the girls have aged MUCH more than 1.5-2 years. In fact, it's a lot closer to 3 years. For those who are confused, I'll first list all their birthdays. Blake: January 19. Weiss: May 15. Yang: July 28. Ruby: October 31. Now, we can proceed. At the start of the show, the girls were 17, 17, 17, and 15. This is in fall, likely before October has started. It's unsure how much time has passed in the volume, we know that the start of Volume 2 is in the next semester. And everyone knows there are only two semesters in a year. So, we can presume that Blake and Ruby have reached their next birthdays, making them 18 and 16 respectively. We can probably assume that Weiss has birthday sometime during Volume 2 as well, as Blake refers to Ruby as two years younger than they (the rest of the team Ruby) are. And while Yang won't hit her 18th birthday until the break between Volumes 2 and 3, we know she's not far off. Volume 3 is where things change drastically from the statements by writers and directors. Well, that technically happened when Ruby turned 16 early on in the show. But Volume 3 happens in fall, as stated by Ruby herself. So we know that they've either begun their second year, or that their second year is about to start. But their first year is complete. Not much time elapses from the beginning of the Volume to the end of it, until the time skip to winter, where team RNJR is first formed. And now we know that at least Ruby has hit her second birthday since the beginning of the show. She is now 17, and the rest are 18 by the end of Volume 3. And now for Volumes 4 and 5. Why both? Simple. The different stories are told out of chronological order. But skipping to the end of Volume 4, ignoring everything but RNJR's story, we see they've arrived at Kuroyuri in fall, which isn't far from Mistral. And Mistral and Vale are close to the same distsnce from the equator, so the seasons shouldn't be super different. So almost a year has passed since the end of Volume 3. Okay. Blake, Weiss, and Yang are 19. and Ruby is close to 18, if not there already. But at the VERY end of Volume 4, we see Yang arrive at the sign pointing to Kuroyuri and Mistral. The same sign we saw RNJR at when Qrow was poisoned. But when Yang is there, it's the middle of Summer. And Volume 5 takes place in that very same Summer. So not much time has passed from the very end of Volume 4 to the end of Volume 5. But we do know that at least Blake and Weiss are now 20, with Yang not far behind (if not already 20 herself). And Volumes 6-8 take place in a relatively short time frame. But with RWBY having to walk out to Argus from the snow, we can assume they maybe took a week or two. And there's a week between Volumes 5 and 6. Volume 7 takes place over a couple months, especially with the montage in Chapter 5 after they've all gotten their Huntsman licenses. It's worth noting, too, that the snow in Volume 6 is likely regional, and not seasonal. After all, the fight between Yang, Blake, and Adam doesn't occur much later, and it looks to still be summer time. And Volume 8 takes place over a couple days. A week at most. All in all, I'd say Volumes 6-8 take place over maybe 3-4 months, with a week between Volumes 5 and 6. So Yang is definitely 20 by now, and Ruby... Well, she's not far from turning 19. So... With that fairly conclusive evidence out of the way (unless the writers want to argue with the literal passage of time, in which case... Whatever), I can say confidently that there has been close to 3 years since the start of the show, and that Blake, Weiss, and Yang got their Huntsman Licenses a little later than they should have. And everyone who disagrees is... Well, wrong. Edit: I changed up some ages and the time frame of 4 years to 3 years because I was adding on tine that didn't exist in show. It is also important to note that Yang and Ruby are about 1 year and 3 months apart in age. However, due to Ruby's birth month, she was 2 school years behind until she joined Beacon at the same time as Yang.

I wish Ruby Rose is okay and becomes *all of the above* like Weiss, Blake and Yang. I'm so completely shocked at the Ruby's scene. 😢 *_Stay strong, Ruby._* ❤️🌹🥀❤️
