On strava Derek Gee uploads his power, he is a bigger guy above 70kg and as he often is in the GC group his power data is quite relevant (riders likes bernal also have power data but he dropped early today unfortunately), and he did 410W for the climb losing 6:30 or something (for over 70kg) , yesterday he did 430W on Pla d'adet and lost "only" 1:20. So I think the 480W yates is talking about isn't sustained watts but the burst from jorgenson before pulling off

It's not for the whole climb but probably last push from Jorgenson. I understand why people are surprised at how much power the pros generate, but I don't understand why they compare themselves to them and act surprised that they are much weaker.

I'm guessing because Jorgenson was pushing more watts! It reminds me of when Cam Nicholls tried to follow a world tour pro at the start of a climb. I think the world tour pro guy pushed over a 1kw and Cam had to give it everything just to catch-up with the guy.

@@CHRoOMAX Except for JV told us yesterday that he produced his best numbers ever (!) on that last climb. So Jonas is in his best form ever. Maybe he could be in an even better form, who knows? But it is just a fact that even if JV is in his best form ever he is racing a guy (TP) who is just in an even better form - and also certainly in the best form of his life up until now. Nothing JV can do about it except for keep on fighting and believing, which is the best he can do right now.
