That’s not right… I wouldn’t even want to take credits for that… I have family members that were just like that bother and sister… yall are saying to the world that those two who clearly look like they couldn’t take care of themselves are guilty…and they got life?!??!? WHAT?!!?!? HA…. Its was a huge failure on that entire family and the nurse practitioners who failed to demand and report what they saw… there are many to blame but not two adults who are clearly mentally disabled… that’s dead wrong!!!!🤦🏾‍♀️did the courts look into their schooling back ground.. did they have IEP classes… did they graduate high school, were they ever sent to a place like Georgia Regional….?!?!?? who deemed them mental fit for trial?!?? WHAT IS THIS…?!?!? NO… this is NOT RIGHT!!! And somebody knows that

The real kicker is that the middle sister seems to be the only one that would have been capable of taking care of their mother. She said in her own testimony that the living conditions were the same for as long as she could remember. She also stated that when she when she would visit(which wasn’t very often) she wouldn’t stay in the house, but she would stay in a hotel. It’s apparent that these two believed that their living conditions were normal.

the whole family fell through the cracks....home visits q 3 months? ...i worked in long term care/hospice for over 50 years and so many families have no clue.... social worker at nursing home and team that did home eval prior to discharge from that facility need to be looked at also... HUGE FAIL all around... so glad i am not in a back woods state like tennessee

I’m confused because if he was a veteran and a retired police officer, I know that he had health insurance, why did they not use it 🤷🏽‍♀️…..so many questions and so little answers 🤦🏽‍♀️

It says the neglect took place between June and August. A visit was supposed to happen in June and the daughter cancelled it

Maybe she didn't qualify for In-Home Care or were the kids getting money from the state or county for being her so-called caregiver.

@@melissajohnson3074even with hospice, and if people are wealthy, in a very expensive care facility, $15 grand a month, the neglect still goes on. It basically up to family to go and make sure things are going correctly.

They definitely are. I work with adults and children with Developmental Disabilities and these adults are for sure Autistic or on the Spectrum with delayed Disabilities 😢!!! I fault the husband, the other children or any other family members with sense who saw this poor lady!!

@@SMMCFAR83 True, she may not be as slow but I have several clients who is on the SPECTRUM that live on their own and some even work; but I assign case managers or what we call at my facility, MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIANS who is certified to handle them overall and some has to checked on daily, every 2 days or some weekly. But the son, he is for sure Autistic. But nothing excuses this crime I just feel several people let this poor victim down including the retired cop husband and other adult children who seems normal. And any other nurses, social workers or anybody who visited this home. This wasn't sudden it happened over a prolonged period of time 😪!!!

@@babyofmyfamily I agree as I watched more the first time I saw any remorse or sadness is when the other sister was on the stand… the brother for sure has issues… I’m more mad at the other sister now for not taking over … its hard to believe she didn’t know her moms condition with the odor that was present… this whole thing makes me sooooo mad I could never live with myself knowing I failed my mom like this

I really think they (father, son or daughter) didn't have a full understanding of what was going on. As unbelievable as it may seem, I don't any of them had the capacity for concise decision making. I feel there is more to the story that is left out, that we are not privy too as far as this goes. That why this is not making sense. As a nurse with home care experience.... there are far too many questions left unanswered

Did the mother not qualify for a Long Term Care/ Extended Care Facility? It seems to me her condition was much too advanced for home care.

I honestly think they are not ok upstairs and this shouldn't have been their responsibility, the ones who left to get married , husband and nurses should have been been able to make decisions instead of lumping such a responsibility to these two who look like they need an evaluation.

Amen sister. Sending loving hugs and prayers to you. I was fortunate enough to take care of my father, mother and mother in-law during their final months, and it was absolutely the honor of my lifetime regardless how difficult it was.

defense stradegy i feel in my book and since we only get to see bits and pieces of this trial we cant get the full pic. was it brought out in trial their mental capacity i have not seen anything on that yet. i hate when they dont play the whole trial

Bear in mind, the husband had the ultimate say.This retired cop, who passed and was married to the victim, was more responsible than ANYONE else. IF a nurse was to visit, as many people have commented on multiple videos, I don't know the exact situation, but nurse, advanced practice nurses, nursing aids, ALL are mandated reporters. IF that healthcare person DID make visits, she needs to lose her license. Also, remember, people aren't going to just show up...they make appointments, unless there was an investigation-who would have started the investigation? If he took her from the nursing home because of money-he couldn't afford either the care, or the loss of her social security...so...the actual guilty/responsible party, died a few months AFTER her. Since we cannot find anything about this on Google, we may never hear what the actual story, chain of events were. We DO know her husband was ambulatory, opened the door for the police, EMT's. Sounds like responsible party is already dead. This feels like it will be overturned on appeal. These 2 belong in a group home environment. Edit: I am curious if these adult children received disability and the family couldn't afford to lose THOSE checks, either. I can't watch without knowing more-too frustrating.

If you truly are a nurse I believe you chose the wrong profession. If you can’t see that her children are cognitively impaired and they themselves needed care and managing, then I believe you lack insight and I wouldn’t trust you to care for anyone.

This is absolutely correct. I’m praying that they get found not guilty and released, get the psychological assistance that they needed as children. This really is a sad case. I cannot give the oldest sister a pass, who knows her family better than all of us. I’m praying for all of them, they have no idea what’s happening to them.

@@khadijahhaynes1492 my husband says if he was on that jury he would say NOT GUILTY. The mother her self may have been stubborn and refused care. Most humans in this situation end up not getting the care they need due to being uncooperative. Our whole system needs to be looked at. The system checked on her every three months? That alone is a red flag. What they are not saying is they would have taken her social security and probably the house for her stay in the nursing home. The family probably needed that income. The adult children do not look like they could get employment let alone take care of her. It’s just sad all the way around. We all let that ball drop.

I wonder if they sought help from the government. I know it’s hard to get help. I’m sure mountains of paperwork and red tape. It’s difficult to be a caregiver especially for someone who is uncooperative. I don’t know the backstory but just wondering about the husband and other sibling and family members. Where were they?

@@sandy30236 I agree. This situation has many rabbit holes. It was a horrible way for this poor lady to die. The system needs someone to blame. They need to be looking at all sides. I am so glad this poor lady is free from what must have been horrible pain and discomfort. I pray her and her husband are at peace. When I look at their children in the court room I feel so sorry for them. They were her babies. They look lost. Hurting them will not bring justice. What will bring justice is to look at how the system failed her.

Yes they do,they are competent to stand trial and that is why the daughter was crying and the son trying to hide his face. They literally starved this woman to death while she suffered in pain that we can not imagine, unable to even communicate that she was in pain. These people are demons,both of them.

For the daughter to know to call and cancel appointments, shows her awareness and knowledge..if she can do that I’m sure she could call for help

I disagree about the other daughter. I think it was a toxic house and she got out as soon as she could and make a life for herself. How can you blame her for staying in a hotel? It was probably a disgusting smelly dirty house. She expressed that she disagreed with the decision of them taking care of her but she had no power. What was she supposed to do? The father made the decisions and he is ultimately responsible. The two adult children obviously have mental disabilities.

@@Deethehiddengem but to only see your mothers head and nothig else shows me she didnt care about her mother i dont think she hugged her helped feed her etc. i dont get that part and if she knew they couldnt care for her she should have sough out help she was lazy and didnt do the research and looking into services etc. i did it i had to look at all kind of things to help my parents get into a nursing home because their health issues were to sever t o be taken care of at home I went every week to the nh made sure theywer getting what they needed and that stafff was treating them well. So many serives out there but you have to be your parents advocate and clearly none of then did anything to look for help no excuses for this kind of neglect EVEr i moved heaven and earth to ake sure i got the proper care for my loving parents who took care of me and it was my turn to show my love and appreciation for all they did for me growing up.

I often wonder why homeless seniors are homeless & not in a place that can care for them so I just assumed they don’t have the money for it. @@potheadzndrama215 there is help out there if you dont have money you try and move heaven and earth to go out and look for it i had to and got mine help for paying for theri nh after their money ran out to pay anymore .Hospice could have been called its not just for the dying. WE HAD hospice and nh and we went every week and took them thing made sure they were taking care of them etc. It can be dolnt but you have to do the work to look for it.

I believe she fell. A break like that would occur in a twist of the leg and a fall. Tripped on bedside commode? Dropped while transferring her? They weren't grossed out by seeing bone sticking out of a leg? Simple trip to ED would have helped her immensely

@@bg5097I honestly don’t know if I think that they should have convicted them. I think they should have gone to a permanent assisted living facility on probation where they would be medicated and working a job (a menial one). They need community, consequences they can understand, and activities that appropriately match their intellectual and physical abilities. That’s all I got. This should NOT have been a jury trial. At all! They clearly are not emotionally or intellectually capable of understanding what’s happening. This is the problem with our legal and mental health systems.
