Agreed. Chang should have focussed more on the industrial use cases like remotely operating heavy machinery or handling dangerous materials, I think those would have got the dragons more excited

​@@Josh-wu7kzThe DaVinci machine has been in use for a long time and there's actually incredibly good results with it, very blatantly good results. It allows for extreme precision. I've been in OR where a surgeon was on them when I was a student on rotations. But the surgeon is still in the operating room at the time and can scrub in for laparoscopic approach if needed. Having said that it's a machine that has been around for a long time with many many millions of dollars of investment into its technology. It's an incredible expenditure for any hospital to have even one of these machines. But these can have significant return on investment because you can perform surgeries with them that give patients much better outcomes in terms of pain etc. At a huge cost. There would be no return on investment if a bed side robot was implemented. Never mind the extreme cost it would take to implement the machine to the precision that machines like the DaVinci surgical machine are seen to have.

I doubt it but it would probably have been worth an attempt. On the other hand I've seen people go out when they try to negotiate so maybe he didn't want to risk it. Seem to happen alot more often on shark tank tho. With the sharks taking back their offers and going out in negotiations.

​@@Zauchi the current AI is very mediocre with programming. It can give you some general and simple code, but fails at more complicated tasks. Remember, all it can learn from is past code, so if there isn't a specific enough data point related to your question, it's gonna guess and it'll prolly be wrong. It also can't handle systems with many moving parts working together, yet. Ofc it's possible that they'll work in the future

@@somerandomguywastaken It is progressing rapidly. Have you seen the code progression from Chat GPT 3 to 4. It already can do very impressive programming. Give it another 5 years, and I doubt that very many human programmers will be more reliable than it.

@@emmanueluejike Yeah licences to easily replicable software, to make any money with that you would have to have a name for being the best or no overheads and with the amount of cash he plans to burn he will probably have neither.

Not all levels of personnel are allowed to do medical treatment. It could free up some hands.

Operating remotely. One operator could control multiple robots in multiple locations. AI/machine learning and/or programming and development will further reduce the need for human operation. Not saying I'm for or against, just that those are the obvious benefits (for these hypothetical care providers who would use robots).

labour shortages and travel costs/time. this is only a start, the real big potential is in the future when for example someone could maybe oneday give cpr to someone or able to quickly revive someone when a ambulance wouldnt be there to do it.

To add also that Peter, cleverly is buying into Dr Chang's IP. For this and what ever else the Dr has up his sleeve. Its a no brainer for someone whose got 150k lying around. Bartlet, considering he potentially has the longest lifespan, missed a trick.

@@billsmith8825 I get that but the whole point of robots replacing humans is that robots are far more efficient! A human controlling the robot is not more efficient not to mention latency issues! It’s be easier for them to just develop a robot for whatever job and sell/license that technology

@Redacted until robots have sufficient AI to be able to make important decisions on the fly and have the ability to see and react to whatever it is they are working on, humans will still be needed. You wouldn't want a robot to be performing surgery on you and suddenly one of your arteries gets nicked and blood starts spewing everywhere and now the robot has to change priorities and handle that issue instead of the original surgery they were programmed to perform. This allows the human to at least not have to be present at the location where the work is being performed. Maybe the specialist you need for the particular surgery you need lives in Switzerland. You could fly out there, or he could just do it remotely.

@@redacted7634 I think that the entrepreneur's explanation was lacking. If it is used for providing care in one's home, it will cut down dramatically on travel time and the carer would be able to administer to several patients/elderly in the time it takes to move by car from one home to another. Especially in rural areas. That was the advantage that I could see. I'm still not convinced that a robot in the home operated remotely could actually perform sufficient tasks however.

@@billsmith8825 These kinds of robots already exist in surgeries, Not fully autonomous don't get me wrong but we already have high precision human controlled robots capable of performing surgeries I just dont think this guy is going to be able to achieve what he is hoping for when there are already multi billion dollar companies who have been doing it for decades, And I have to agree with Steven when he said it looks super clunky and struggled to pick up a toy dog, I hope him the best but I cant see him making any changes in the industry.

@@TheManInBlueFlames In the example at the start of the pitch (and what I saw when I had a quick look at the website) the human is still controling it. They sell the robots and the software to interact them using a VR / AR headset. So the human *does* have to (at the least) monitor it. They are not fully autonomous, they still require that human controller.
