those toft consoles actually do sound a little dull. you'll get a more 'hifi' sound out of a mixdown in logic. nice eqs though

It‘s a bit like, you don‘t need a big record collection to play a good DJ set. True, but it‘s more fun and give you more options at least in theory. Probably more knowledge too.

I think its nice that he isn't dismissive of that approach, acknowledging that he does use samples and doesn't have an issue with soft synths. Would be easy to sit amongst all that gear and talk down on it!

He states at the start it is the gear of four people, not only that but these guys have been doing it for a while. +1 your advice for starting out but also would add getting a portable recorder like a Zoom H4n, mixing your own samples into a track is one of the quickest ways to get your own sound.

Not true. That studio is cleverly laid out and most of the pieces are surely used very often if not in every mix. Particularly the effects and processing pieces. The sources are indeed more like a collector thing - but then mind that many of them are “specialist” instruments that are picked just for one or two specific sounds, that they do better than anything else. I do not necessarily love Ame’s studio layout (everyone is different) - but I do not see much slack in it either and I cannot imagine it "gathering dust" that much.

while synths and esp rack gear can lay dormant in a studio, they are still usable via midi if hooked up

It's not the same.... Like RA says ....while Dream House is their debut album, it's not their first experience with LPs. In 2004, they released a self-titled compilation for Sonar Kollektiv, and put out a live album on Innervisions.

the definition of "album" (or L.P.) is a collection of audio recordings released together as a collected work. already releasing "Âme" and "Live" i think the RA guys are a bit confused or just want to redefine the concept (i think it's the 1st one)

Kieren Moore I'd say two of their best tracks are Mein Papagei hat Flöhe and Geiler Ron. Two excellent examples of Nouveau progressive.

Âme, Dixon, Henrik Schwarz and Innervisions represent some of the absolute best in electronic music over the last two decades. Endless quality, in production, in performance, in output, consistently excellent (without loving everything you can appreciate most of it as crafted examples of sonically sound, harmonically happy, structured compositions) noted generally for their musicality, simplicity/complexity, cross-cultural pollination, instrumental authenticity, tonal arrangements and warmth. I would've seen Dixon at least half a dozen times in many places (Melbourne, Berlin, Paris, Sao Paolo at least!) and he is quite simply 'the DJ's DJ' a consummate 4-5+ hour master; a semi-recent gig here in Melbourne attended by sooo many of the best local DJs it was like school crossed with sonic sensations. Ever see Henrik Schwarz live? Wow master of sonic manipulation, energy transferral...can get a room cooking in no time! Always used to record instrumentation separately to re-arrange, highly professional, always searching and moving to new ground. Also a lovely, humble and openly conversant chap, as is Dixon to whom my better half spoke to for hours at D Edge...you can be a freak musical genius, performance gun, run an awesome label AND be without pretensions and inflated ego - respect.
