Great video! One question -- what is the name of that Oscilloscope software you are using? What kind of oscope hardware does it work with?

Just a comment - the AD transorb you show is for 120 vac so it is bidirectional, but the 24 vdc transorbs sold by AD are unidirectional. I've purchased several of the 24 vdc modules over the years, and generally wire two transorbs back to back to get bidirectional protection.

@paganskier, thanks for the comment, that is very useful information. We will be sure to include it in any future videos. 👍

how do you test the siemens 3rt1916-1dg00 surge suppressor diode for s00 contactors,
@automationdirect
@automationdirect Год назад
Tinodaishe, I would imagine it could be tested like any other diode, however AutomationDirect does not offer Siemens products and have not information on their diode. It would be best for you to contact their technical support for the Siemens products.

Hi Sandeep, I'm not sure I understand the question .. Are you looking for a battery part number? Contactors don't use batteries ...

Are surge protectors just to protect the PLC, not the load you are driving?
@automationdirect
@automationdirect 6 лет назад
Yes, Normally the goal is to protect the PLC from anything downstream on the circuit which is why you place them as close to the PLC input as possible. It really wouldn't offer much protection to other devices because if the surge reached the PLC it has already affected the other devices in the circuit.
