This week I cover an aspect that one of you guys suggested in the comments from the last video. I explain how you should set the front forks height on the triple clamps based on where you are going to ride.

2:05 I got exactly what I was looking for what to expect from lowering the bike raising the forks in the clamps

Lower the bike quicker the turning...but sketchy for high speed. As a trail rider I have lowered the front end.

Thanks Manuel, I ride a 2012 WR450F and have multiple accidents due to my front tire washing out. I'm going to try raising the forks.

Justin. The front wheel washing out when turning left or right in let's say burms or s turns. May be somtning comlelty different. #1 cause in my opinion is gonna be tire pressure, on the average track I'm in the ballpark of 14-21 in the front. And 16 rear. Any harder or higher psi in front I'm getting chop or front end hop and easily washes out. I do like my fork a good 10-18mm passed the upper triple clamp to lower front end for performing in turns im always fighting my bike in turns especially rights.

Another issue that causes that is dabbing the front brake in the turn. If you're running a Michelin Starcross, get rid of that thing. I highly recommend the Dunlop MX33. It sticks like fly tape.
@human1513
@human1513 10 месяцев назад
Tire pressures normally in the 12 - 15 psi range. Soft terain lower and hard terrain like rocks 15. MX racers often use 13, 13.5 psi..

Hi Manuel, im riding a ktm 1190 adv r. Im very used to riding sports bike. Do you think it is ok to bring the fork lower for better cornering on road/tarmac?

Hi Manuel, thoughts for another video is how to re-install forks by one person. What if the crown is off slightly causing a binding that you did not notice during removal? What if the pinch area is too tight?

What about a bike which has thin forks and all the way flush with triple clamps when you brake they want to bend back a little? Feels weird to brake. Whats the max recommended setting pushing them up? How many mm up the clamp?

I have an 03 crf450r. Which to me is a very "rear steering" bike after taking it to the mx track. And its an absolute wheelie machine. Which I can control but thinking I need to raise the forks through the triple clamps alot. What do you think? The motor on the 03 is like at 0 degrees. Straight up and down..

Burping the fork is a good suggestion, I imagine this condition could be worse given the conditions of the fork seals.
@Engrave.Danger
@Engrave.Danger Год назад
I've run Motion Pro micro fork bleeders so I don't need a screwdriver. I tilt my bike onto the side stand to lift the front wheel then burp/balance the forks. I do that before every ride and typically an hour or two into the trail, once the suspension is good and warm.

Good infö on the affect of lowering and raining on handling - but would be good for you to show the process of loosening and moving the fork - live on screen - rather than just talking about it

so when you e.g. lower forks should you also adjust rear shock to compensate or not?

I have a question. Because of an fork oil change, I reinstalled my fork accedintly 2mm lower in my triple clamp. Are those 2mm a big issue for cornering on track? Or can I leave them like they are now.

ok, forks higher or lower but how much is too much? just trial and error method?
@ManuelLucchese1
@ManuelLucchese1 7 лет назад
Wild One yes just desert racing the setting is always as low as possible, for all other type of tracks you need to trial and error. It's fundamental because only this way you really start knowing your bike and how setting up differently reacts in the handling of the bike. I can guarantee you that after some months of trial and error you will develop the knowledge and feeling to then know exactly where to place them as soon as you know which envoironment you will be riding in. This also applies to all other settings on motorbikes, just fiddling you discover what suits you best. What I am trying to do is to send you in the right direction making it a little easier understanding the dynamics so that you know which modifications to try out :)
@wildone2163
@wildone2163 7 лет назад
thanks, so basically if bike front is prone to washing out in corners I need to put forks higher. Do I need take wheel off for this adjustment?
@ManuelLucchese1
@ManuelLucchese1 7 лет назад
No you don't need to take it off if you want to make a slight adjustment but for sure if you take off the wheel its easier.

Thanks. Although I'm not a fan of 4 strokes, this bike really deserves a compliment as far as looks go. That's also a nice, alien looking headlight mount you've got there. The fairing's are what threw me off mark though or I could've told this was a YZF from stock fairings. Thanks again for making the video.
