When I think about the elements of Techno Music I immediately think of a rumbling kick drum, heavily distorted percussion and slowly evolving yet rhythmic synth modulation.
In this video I experimented with the Clep Diaz from Noise Engineering to get the filter cutoff modulation to evolve within 8 bars. I show a simple trick for Techno Kick Rumble. Also I tried a couple of different Ducking Techniques to bring the kick drum into front. And I did a little jam at the end.
Ataraxic Iteritas from Noise Engineering as the main voice.
Elektron Digitakt as the drum machine.
Empress ZOIA as the FX chain for modular.

🌍 Hello World! My name is Ihor.
This is my channel where I share my experiences, ideas, reviews and tutorials related to Electronic Music Production. I focused mostly on Techno and House music. In my Studio on my Music Production Desk you will find a variety of different gear like: digital and analog synth, eurorack modular, drum machine, sampler, effect, mixer, guitar pedal, MIDI controller. Also software: DAW, Ableton, VST, plugins.
I am myself an engineer and I am quite obsessed with the Music Technology and Sound Design. I like making music without a computer. I like playing Electronic Music Live with my Minimal Dawless Setup. I love Eurorack Modular Techno and always keen to talk about the modular workflow.
I strongly believe that nothing can be better than a good Dawless Techno Jam!
I watched all the Techno Tutorials on RU-vid! (I think)
📺 Thanks for watching! And have fun!
✌️ Peace.

Love the idea using a low pitched filtered snare for rumble. The Clep Diaz is a workhorse. For 8 steps though, you would have to set it to the 4th LED only. Like this (first 3 LEDs on) you'll have 7 steps. Since you reset the CD, it doesn't start to shift. Which can be also interesting.

This one is fire! Such a sick video. The Noise Engineering gang running wild once again. Those guys hit it from so many angles! At this point, I wish Noise Engineering would make at least one module I don't want. This one shows the flexibility and usefulness of the Clep Diaz but Lapsus and Pons are so integral in the success of this patch it could be a trio demo. Ihor, my dude, this is the content we came here for, bro. :) Don't. Stop. Yo.

@@MrCshmn Yes, it does 3 different shapes (up up-down down) and LFOs as well. Each CH can be independent or you can pick as many of the 4 you want to control at once.

I like a lot. How do you sync Digitakt with the Modular 🙂
@IhorMedia

It is via MIDI. On the modular I have a MIDI to CV converter - MIDI 1U from intellijel. This is it!
@gastawson4398
@gastawson4398 3 года назад
My man! I love your vids... I am slowly going this digitakt+modular direction as well and I was wondering if you could implement more digitakt's MIDI sequencer ... maybe even instead of the steppy and mimetic combo for a video? Anyhow keep it up, it's great, what you're doing!
@IhorMedia
@IhorMedia 3 года назад
Hey! Thank you for hanging here! ✌️ Using DTs sequencer for my modular is my goto thing usually. With MIDI 1U module (or any other MIDI interface for modular) it covers A LOT of use cases. Tho a big advantage of Mimetic and Steppy combo for me is its melodic/rhythmic randomness and ease of use. Have a look at one of the videos on my channel about MIDI 1U module. There I use DTs sequencer a lot. ✌️
@gastawson4398
@gastawson4398 3 года назад
@@IhorMedia Yeah, just came across that Techo Break😄. And you're right.. I guess DT sequencer could work just fine if you prepare your patterns in advance, but for live improvisation Steppy+Mimetic make more sense. That's bad news for me, because it means 2 more modules in my schopping list.
@IhorMedia
@IhorMedia 3 года назад
@@gastawson4398 exactly that! Tho Steppy can also be replaced by the DTs sequencer easily. Always so many ways 😊

I know O&C is an outstanding module! But I don't have one. Something is holding me back from getting it. It might be that "programming" feeling that I don't really like. Like in Pam's. It is great, but to get things done you have to sit and make considerable, logical, at times complex choices. Whilst Clep is just immediate and simple. Thanks for your comment and suggestions! Much appreciated.
