This is a typical 1960's-2000's style Tecumseh carb that you will find on Tillers, Snowblowers, Riding mowers, Chippers, etc.
amzn.to/23ZX8Ef NEW carb for under 20 bucks. These Chinese carbs have hit the market in the last few years. They do work and people seem happy with them.
The exact carb in the video is off a Tecumseh HH60 on a Troy-Bilt Garden Way Horse rototiller

I don’t know why Tecumseh got so much hate towards so many people. I have my 5.0HP Powersport engine since 1998. And that engine starts on the first pull and idles and drives. Smoothy and Quiet to. I think they just don’t know how to service them. There simple engines and Series 11 carburetors as well.

Great instructional video. Never rebuilt a carb before, but followed you instructions and, damned, it worked. The ol' tecumseh is running great. Mine is a 1982 model and your tutorial was perfect. Thanks a lot!!!!!

Very helpful for beginners and old men like me. I've rebuilt many carbs, problem is written responses in chat rooms are filled with terms adopted by segments of the community. Even manuals use terms others may not use. E.g., power screw or fuel mix screw? Nice to see a video so I can know the specific part you speak of, and for an HH-60, have one, love it, few videos depicting my 50+ and still running motor. Thank you

Great video wish I'd watch the second half before I put it back together, ended up tearing it all down again cuz it was running with choke and after that about 5 minutes it would let me go to the second setting back from full choke, but that's all. I tore it back down went through everything again then realized I hadn't cleaned out the hole in the main power adjustment but at bottom of bowl. Great video, very thorough. Thanks

Thanks for your video. My mistake was I missed the tiny hole at top of main jet. Now it works fantastic!

In addition I always add sea foam carb cleaner to my tanks, this material seems to me to help keep the carbs clean and so far the old tillers, mower engines start right up in the spring, Also use only non ethanol gas, some of the older engines, carb gaskets can not stand up to ethanol gas, Just been my experience,

Would have been nice to actually see the linkage and spring.

@bringitjr .........You will need to look up your part numbers online with your engine model numbers. The Tecumseh engines Troy-Bilt put on their tillers were all 6hp. The "hole" above the idle screw should be covered with a welch plug.

Thank you. I’m having big issues with my power throw 6 hp HSK60. I’m looking for a new carb can’t find. I also want to go to adjustable one. The original one has a fixed jet. Any suggestions

Nice video. I've got my grandfather's Troy Built tiller from the 70's and I'm guessing the original carburetor. Instead of rebuilding it I just bought what I thought was the correct one and everything looks the same except the passageway you mention at the choke. The old one doesn't have it. Is it just a just a modification or do I need to find the exact one? Thanks.

I I really believe that I have the sister to your tiller/engine. I have not found a engine number, but yours looks identical to mine. I got it because of a trade. This one sat in a barn for 30 yrs. Broke one bolt hole on carb trying to remove very corroded bolts. Can a new carb be found? Will be watching for your response. Thanks for your time.

These are very common Tecumseh Carbs. Aftermarket ones can be found, but you're always better rebuilding the original.

Terry, I would assume that you have already found that there are many Tecumseh OEM carburetor and aftermarket clones available on the internet. I found 4 OEM carbs and too numerous to count clones available on the internet. Your post indicates a broken bolt hole in your carburetor so you are not going to rebuild your broken carb.

Actually, I wanted to say to you that some of the Lauson-era vertical engines used a front-mounted cylindrical fuel tank bracketed above the cylinder head.

Hi, could you show the reattachment of the carb to the throttle and gov linkages on your troy-bilt? i didn't write the diagram down of which spring/rod goes in what holes when i took mine off. do they both go in the smallest holes on that carb plate? If so, which one goes in the small rear one and which in the forward small one? is the larger one behind the small rear hole used? Thanks!

Carburetor Cleaner. Acetone is about the only other stuff that will dissolve gasoline varnish.

I'm working on a 10 hp Tecumseh vertical shaft in a riding mower thats been sitting out in the rain for 10 years. Tecumsehs aren't my favorite to work on. I got the water out of the block , cleaned the carb and got it started. Low speed circuit is still blocked but this video was helpfull. Electric starter seems a little week? Have you worked on their starters? thanks JW :)
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 8 лет назад
+ww321 The starters commutator could have some surface oxidation but should wear off with time with the brushes rubbing on them. But most slow starters are due to an electrical connection. Try some jumper cables straight to the starter body(neg) and to the positive post on the starter. This will let you know if you have an electric connection before the starter that is giving you grief.
