I find that Tucker / Cruz segment to be more about how Tucker has gone all-in on fascism that Cruz humiliating himself. Oh, sure, Cruz did grovel, but Tucker getting outraged that anyone said Jan 6th was a bad thing is definitely the bigger transgression to my mind.

@@kieranjaegar it’s because their base watches Tucker every night and eats up what he says. Meanwhile, the public usually only hears about Ted Cruz when he’s messed up again. Tucker and Fox are what stirs up and mobilize their base and gives the Republican Congress members a platform to spout their nonsense. If even Fox thinks they’re a “traitor”, it’s unlikely they’ll get other chances on OAN or other similar right-wing networks. So they need to suck up to him, unfortunately.

I'm really impressed by Seth's versatility. Typically RU-vid-style comedy has much faster pacing than a live comedy news show like Seth's. At the start of the pandemic I remember watching Seth struggle a little to fit into the RU-vid niche when he had to record offsite, and it's awesome how much he's improved since then! He really grabbed the bull by the horns...If memory serves, it didn't take him very long at all to figure out the right pacing. Now I feel like he's got it down pat. That can't have been easy after years of training around like, giving time for the audience's reaction and riffing off their energy.

Same. I like both but the pacing without the audience is my preference. Still, Seth and the crew seem to really like the audience’s energy (who doesn’t love applause, honestly) so I hope they can go back soon. The studio without the audience was an inspired time though, more energy from the crew watching but slower and longer jokes from the lockdown era. They deserve all the awards from being so versatile!

It's nothing new. Conservatives have ALWAYS been on the wrong side of history. Everything from slavery, women voting, blacks voting, interracial marriages, segregation, corporate regulations, healthcare, education, tax reform, immigration, climate change, evolution, abortion, women's rights, LGBT rights, and even just basic human rights. Their solution is to either ignore it (and prevent schools from teaching it to their children!) or rewrite history (saying that the insurrection was just "a normal tourist visit" or that it was Antifa). When the entire history of your party is shameful, denial is just a part of everyday life.

And covid will mutate further, I just hope the same immunologist you igrone are right that in most cases when a virus mutates it gets more infectious and less life threatening. And if the next mutation gets more life theartening will you finally take it serious? Or will you just say its still no big deal?

@Adam your right if u want to oversimplify things. But the details for the brains who can handle them mean that too many at risk & unvaxed people are clogging hospitals. It's so much more contagious than the regular strain even though it's milder. But it's still not so mild that the at risk don't clogg the system. It's hit people I know bad & it killed my gfs grandmother. I haven't felt that sick in a long time. & i go YEARS without being sick. It's the logistical problems that make everything so bad not that it's so deadly. & then there's the regular emergencies & conditions that will normally & inevitably go to the hospital. At the end of the day it just comes to this is leading to too much hospitalization. If u can't understand that's a problem then stay ignorant.

It all looked so fake and rehearsed, though. Tucker is pretty much Steven Segal level himself (in acting, not aikido obviously). It was all planned out beforehand with the idea being that it would look like Tucker was taking Cruz to task but it was just a lame set piece so they both could explain what Cruz "really meant" in order to placate the angry mob that didn't like what they heard in that weird moment Cruz spoke reasonably. I mean, I could be reading it wrong due to Tucker being more cartoon character than human with his novelty facial expressions he trots out ad infinitum but I feel like it was very rehearsed and agreed upon. It's like the WWF/WWE of interviews.
