Here, here. It's more like a commercial--and I mean that in a good way. It's not the whole show any more than a "preview" is the whole movie. Geesh guys. I for one am inspired to go next year after seeing this. I have been inspired by SoS in the past to get the books authored by many of the "stars" of Johns videos. Keep em' coming John.

@msteward777: So far, I've identified the following speakers from it - Regina Dugan ("we can change the world, if we defy the impossible"), Peter Diamandis ("we have the tools, we have the passion"), Paul Gilding ("we can be more, we can be much more"), JR ("let's turn the world inside out") , T. Boone Pickens ("I am a believer"), James Hansen ("The science is clear")

A little something inspired by the video: It stirs the soul Stir for a bit, Gain wonder, Stir for a bit more, Gain insight, Stir for even a bit more, Gain ideas, Put everything together, and you'll get passion, Then you'll be able, To defy the impossible, Then you'll be able, To imagine the future, And finally... You'll be able, To change the world, All this will stir you soul, This is... TED.

I made a lyrical/contemptory dance to this way back when. 1:01 is so pretty honestly. and these are speeches like this is good. 'the miracle of your mind...' 'wonder, insight, ideas, its time to tell'. wow, like i dont remember the dance but I remember practicing it and loving it and my mom does too. this is so good. nostalgia

Reminds me of this story .... At a U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, [Bono] asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone, “Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”From the front of the crowd a voice with a broad Scottish accent pierced the quiet …“Well, fuckin stop doin it then, ya evil bastard!”

I highly agree with everything stated within the video itself and I think that as a society if we have thinkers such as these our world is going to be a better, brighter place. Impossibilities will become possible, because the mind is a powerful tool.

I generally resist the urge to read comments on websites, as the number of hateful, rude and unconsciously shallow minded people is staggering and shows a bleak social world. For a person to make a blanket statement that "all of TED is a joke" is unfathomable to me. TED is a multi-faceted forum of some of the most brilliant and talented people of our age.

@gumme1234 Boswell does nothing wrong. Hitting a knee with a little hammer is a joke about how doctors test physical reflexes to make sure the patient doesn't have nerve or muscle damage. Seeing Boswell's work makes me want to hit the "like" button. Like a reflex.

Some rock subgenres are generally good, such as punk(ish). Bad Religion, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, etc. Tom Morello "helped to found the rock-rap genre" and is an "advocates for worker’s rights, human rights, immigrant rights, environmental rights, and animal rights." And the next generation is better than the last on many of those issues.
