Canelo is a very complete fighter for anyone who knows the sport well. He always makes good decisions in the ring and always looks for the knockout like a proper professional. Tucks the chin well, hand position correct, punching technique ideal for power, lands with the knuckles. Important stuff when you look at a boxer. Correct foot placement for balance and power. Doesn't run, stall, clinch, foul. A lot of good attributes.

IDK what Teddy's problem is with Canelo. Canelo is not only the best Mexican fighter, he has the most buzz of ANY Latino fighter since Duran. Even JCC didn't have that. Salvador Sanchez d.ed young. He never got a chance to have that.

Why do Teddy Atlas, Oscar De La Hoya and all those Canelo critics just sound hateful and full of spite against Canelo? There is something personal there. Their extremely bitter anti-Canelo comments say more about them than about Canelo. What makes them think that Duran, Sugar Ray, Hagler, Hearns etc would have lasted against Canelo given.today's highly competitive environment, the improved nutrition, training methods, techniques etc. The comparison is misguided and dumb.

I've given up on Teddy 'Freddy' Atlas who often has great wise tips and advice but frequently just goes OFF THE RAILS with the dumbest assertions and seems to think every other fight it rigged and corrupt too. Even if he's not ahead of Chavez and Sanchez, Canelo is an absolute all-time great Mexican and easily one of our generations great boxers.

I agree that Canelo is overrated. he wins fights because he is strong and hits hard and can also take a shot. but not because he's such a great boxer. he walks forward and throws big bombs. just one punch at a time and sometimes two punches. you rarely ever see him throw a few punch combination. I think Hearns could've destroyed Canelo. and also Hagler. and Maybe Crawford can beat him. and I think Charlo's bigger brother maybe could beat him. the main thing that Canelo has is those big bomb body shots. and once a fighter gets hit by Canelo a couple of times with that power. it makes them not want to get hit by him. which is what happened with Charlo being a guy who came up two weight classes for the first time. after not fighting for a long time and coming off of a hand injury. he just wasn't ready for it.

He has been overrated for a long time. He has the record for vacating belts. Took him 10 years to fight one of the Charlo twins. he is known to run from the real challenges. To be fair … I don’t see Canelo beating Hearns, Sugar, Duran, Hagler (Four Kings). Is Canelo a great fighter yes, but for his era. Even aside from Mayweather, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Ward, these fighters in their primes were just different. And I do agree Salvador Sanchez and other Mexican fighters should be on just as high as of pedestal if not higher than Canelo. With that being said … Canelo is currently the King.
