Ah man this was one of my early moments of Smackdown when I got back into it around the late 2000s. If I remember right, what lead to the "Buckle up Teddy!" moment was because Teddy Long screwed over 'Taker in a title match against CM Punk and on that next night of Smackdown, Teddy tried to leave the arena before 'Taker to get to him and when he thought he was in the clear by getting into his limo, 'Taker revealed himself as the driver leaving with Teddy. Then the next night on Smackdown, a traumatized Teddy then books 'Taker in another title match against CM Punk in which he came out victorious. This was pretty much the last time Teddy was a heel in any way (one of the fastest face to heel to face turns ever lol)

How freaking long was this man with the company? Part of the original Nation- back when it was a Nation of Islam/Malcolm X spoof before the Nation/Las Boriquas/DOA faction war- worked as a ref, a manager, a GM, all the way up through the 2010s.

When I was a kid I used to buy wrestling magazines at the supermarket. WCW magazine had (I think) Christmas edition and they mentioned someone would send Teddy Long a bunch of peanuts each year. Some kind of prank because people referred to him as peanut. I wonder if that was true or just for the magazine.
