+Mathieu Bilodeau - I doubt that you will find many people to argue with on that one !!!! - saw him with doyle bramhall some years ago both playing "second guitar" to Eric Clapton and was blown away by his slide playing - looked him up later to find out about him which took me to tedeschi trucks band - an absolutely incredible band - beyond brilliant - sadly I missed this show - I think it was the only one that year in the U.K.- hope to see them someday - take care - Steve.
Two great guitarists. Susan doesn't get the respect she deserves because she stands next to Derek all night. I love when Derek smiles during her solo, He knows he didn't marry no slouch on guitar. A great band to see live.
Mike Forti Indeed, I heard the ... pushing in her voice long ago. Now it's just so unforced and natural. She's like a combination of Bonnie Raitt and Aretha, just lots of effortless power and soul in her voice. And you're also right about her guitar abilities. She used to be a great singer/good rhythm player who did some nice lead (just like the wonderful Boz Scaggs, for instance). Now she's an even greater singer, and she can straight up kick ass at blues lead when she's really feeling it. She still makes a few mistakes live but her fire and enthusiasm are so wonderful that only a guitarist would notice. And Derek ... I mean, what can you say about that guy? Any man that can overshadow the brilliant Warren-freaking-Haynes on guitar while in the Allman Bros. is pretty much superhuman. Derek trucks is basically a superhero whose superpower is blues slide guitar. When all is said and done, Derek, Duane and Sonny Landreth may be the top three greatest slide guitar players the human race has ever produced.
+pac401 seems more wishful thinking, he was smiling at something to the side.. cant blame him, they probably have played this 1 million times, and sometimes when they play they forget the song and take it too far with the solos.. she did that...
history of blues guitar and particularly slide blues that guys' knowledge is constantly showcased this lick that chord. Turned into little melodies. 45 odd years ago a person was born to spend his life holding tightly to a guitar.
Andrew, you are right, of course they are all absolutely top class musicians, no denying that. But Trucks, for me anyway, just has that something special - perhaps a modesty in spite of his great talents?
Sorry pushed the wrong button! what I was trying to say is Richard you are right, he is very modest, to me, that is one of his greatest attributes. Even in his interviews you wouldn't think he is as great as he is. In these days his and hers kind of reaction to fame is refreshing , and very rare.
Susan just tags the hell out of her solo. She has always had such a soulful voice but I love seeing such command and grace coming from her guitar, it gets me all hot around the gills. Then Derek blows in like a category 5 hurricane and just levels whats left the place! There has never been anyone with that much swell and tension, ever. Now that's what I call team work!
Wow - She can play and sing! Then dueling guitars can't be beat! Then every last one of them in the band... the best I've heard in YEARS. CHILLS. OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
I think that Susan and Derek have a sweet marriage. The vibes between them are excellent, and they play fantastic together and are one of the best blues and rock band in the states, and I hope that they will stick together for years. Derek is one of the best guitarists around and maybe the best slide guitarist all ower and Susan the best female singer-musician in the world. May they stick together --- and develop each other and people around them for many more years, thank you for all you give us.
@@juniorjohnson9509 Good enough for me and see ---12 are positive and just you concentrate on the negative, but I agree with you, but Totally seen she is very good. Altogether they are great and she is a very good musician and her husband one of the best guitarists around
Tears shed, the genius... Susan is amazing and when Derick takes the spotlight I know I love them both.. Some of the most powerful music I've ever heard. It's just unbelievable the talent.
Derek Trucks is so good, and takes so many of the solos, it's possible to forget just what a great guitarist Susan Tedeschi is. And then she lays it down like this. Sweet Baby J*sus.
Knowing how much I love the Blues my brother turned me onto Susan T. Lucky enough to see her solo and with her man Derek. Their band is smoking hot. I’m forever grateful to be blessed to still hear great musicians. In some ways they remind me of Delaney & Bonnie and Friends. Another star studded lineup from back in the day. Thanks for sharing this👍
I didn't notice that before...that is so awesome and she is one hell of a guitar player and yes she has the pipes of a very soulful Angel!!!!! He's probably helped her fine-tune some aspects of her playing and she nailed it :-)!!!! What a couple!!!
Man this is just something else.........Duane you have left a wealth of beautiful music of how to play and sing .....people rarely get anywhere near you but this does. I have seen Derek Trucks and know he is very good but Susan is very good too. I rarely make superlatives about guitar players for anyone who knows me Duane blew me away in 71 but he really does have a lovely couple to carry his mantle.
Ok... Derek is great (as usual), the band is great... But Susan absolutely CRUSHES IT! Amazing playing by Susan... I wish she would take the lead more often. What a "couple" of musicians... Sent to us from heaven.
I just watched this again and my appreciation somehow jumped even higher for all...but I focused on Tedeschi and she completely blew me away. Don't even go down that road that we sometimes do to categorize. This is a mind blowing talent. I've been playing for 45 years and wish I could get my soul to flow through my fingers like she does.
I am not sure I have ever heard any guitar player with a better feel for the blues idiom than Derek Trucks. I feel lucky to be alive while he is in his prime and playing. Trucks actually stole the show at the White House blues jam featuring BB King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck and Warren Haynes. No small feat that.
Every time i watch this I’m amazed at so many different parts. Tonight its the strangling she gives that guitar . She squeezed out every bit of music that thing had in it that night.
I watch this at least once a week. I cant get enough of it. Such a flawless and emotion filled performance. Hair stands on the back of my neck every time.
Yeah and she’s not in top 10 female guitarist lists. But Joan Jett is. SMFH. This woman is pure sole and talent. Dereck well he’s in a class all by himself.
Janis showed women vocalists how to open up and sing from their gut. It's honest and more about the song & feeling than just sounding pretty. Love this woman.
Great performance, Blues Music at it's very best. Never knew of the "Tedeschi Trucks Band" until today, 17th February 2024. I'm impressed, very impressed. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 17th February 2024.
These beautiful people are the most talented couple I have ever heard! One of them is just as talented as the other! I am in a wheelchair now, no big deal, and this video had me rolling and rocking! If I had big money I would spend it to sit in their studio for a day or two just to watch and listen...
GOD!! I’m chilled all over ! BOTH OF THEM JUST GOT ME ! Wow!! Love love love love it ! Susan’s guitar playing is fan-fuck-ing-tastic ! She’s an inspiration! OH! But - wait HE adds his equally moving and thrilling solo and BAM! I’m moved, impressed, and so appreciative that they knew or someone encouraged to start playing , and , they kept at it , and continued with it and look what gift became of that first bright idea. Thank you, to all members of TTB!! It brings joy to my heart to watch you bare yours thru those vocals and guits!! Bravo !!! I can’t wait to see you !
THe new less avante garde and unbelievably smiling happy unfiltered Trucks! When he was staring at the neck or the floor all those years like a prayer he was sending to heaven. Suddenly BAM! some light switch went off emotionally. not the top of his game ever. It's limitless. These two. These two. Blessing all who have ears!
Susan Tedeschi is Awesome.....Sensational Voice and a Brilliant Guitarist.....The only time I'm disappointed is when she Sings and doesn't Play! Derek is a Lucky Fella, what a Couple.
What a fantastic rendition of this fabulous song. Susan has a fantastic voice and Derek’s guitar playing is sublime. The whole band are so, so talented.
These two were made for Music and each other. See them once live and your a southern blues guy or Gal for the rest of your life. enjoy. They play every note like they want too.. or better yet because they just HAVE TOO.
So cool to see Susan bring out her guitar chops as well as her amazing vocals. Solid complete musical package. 🎵🎸🎤 And Derek's big smile of appreciation. 😍
Still listening in 2023. Love this band tho I was a follower of Susan for years and didn't really know Derek much, but I got to know him and the two together just blows me away ❤❤❤
Ryan Knispel each time I watch it I see something new. You see Derek’s support and reassurance after her solo , but watch carefully and you will see a big sigh of relief. Very cool🍀
@@jimfitzgerald6510 , The Bass Player is really getting into it as well, which you don't initially notice because you are watching Susan & Derek....And It Is Very Cool....All Of It.....The Opposite to most Modern Music. They Have So Much Talent, and Are So Unpretentious.
