Tedeschi Trucks Band and Friends
Tribute To Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs & Englishmen
Lockn' Festival
Arrington, Virginia
9/11/2015
Lyrics:
What would you do if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
What do I do when my love is away
(Does it worry you to be alone?)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you're on your own?)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love
Would you believe in a love at first sight
Yes I'm certain that it happen all the time
What do you see when you turn out the light
I can't tell you but I know it's mine
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you need anybody, I just need someone to love
Could it be anybody, I want somebody to love
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
with a little help from my friends

Hey folks: On stage here are Leon (Himself) Russell, Rita Coolidge, Dave Mason, Chris Stainton, Claudia Lennear, & guitarist Doyle Bramhall II . Some are from the original Mad Dogs & Englishmen!!! Folks This Is The Real Thing !!!!!!! Add fantastic vocals from Chris Robinson & Susan Dedeschi, with the WIZARDRY of guitarist Derek Trucks, and you have Mad Dogs Going To Heaven.

Is that Leon at 5.56? And the guy next to him, is that Butch Trucks, Derek's uncle of Allman Bros fame? I could well be wrong. Sad that both passed away not long after this vid.

73 years young and music like this keeps me that way. This takes me back to the Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970 and The Allman Bros. BAND was playing on a stage next to the free food kitchen. This is that level of master musicians full to the brim with the soulful sounds you can listen to all day and into the midnight hours. The sound reminds me of those days with that wall of sound that just fills your heart like no other can do! Gotta hand it to all on that stage, nothing, but love for you guys, Susan, Derrick, I hpoe you can keep bringing it so that people can experience the heart of the 60's and 70's music. You have it nailed to the bone!!!

Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs & Englishmen moved a lot more energy and positive vibrations performing this song, but still TTB and friends move tons of it and, as the axis has changed orientation, it is probably not possible to move the same amount of energy that 50 years ago was possible to move... Or better almost impossible as the version of Space Captain with Herbie Hancock had truly that almost impossible now level of energy, in the video you can clearly see how the performers after playing was in a bliss state, with Kundalini awakened. Anyway TTB and few others are miles ahead compared to most music played nowadays, their music is real food for the hungry souls in this sad age without soul.

Was at Fillmore East 50+ years ago to see JC MD&E perform one of my favorite concerts. This version is equally great. Glad to see so many back on stage kicking ass along with TTB

Love, love love TTB! The respect they have for such classic and truly epic moments in music. Mad Dogs & Englishmen, a once in a lifetime tour, such an honor to Leon Russell and Joe Cocker. More recently, TTB's tribute of the masterpiece, "Layla and other assorted love songs". WOW!

Lockn has to be one of the "great" music festivals.

The energy at that festival is like no other I've ever experienced. The amount of love is astronomical. Almost gets me emotional just thinking about it.

I talked my brother and my best friend into going to a tedeschi Trucks band concert. They were just ok about going but said yes. After the concert we were scheduled for 4 more.

I love these versions. They keep the vibe of that era alive! But let us not forget that it is a Beatles song.

It is but the Joe Cocker version is certainly a flight away from the original.

My wife is a Tedeschi Trucks fan from way, way, way back and I grabbed her from the other room to enjoy this clip. Super awesome IMHO. Cheers and Happy Holidays from Albany, NY, USA.

Alecia Chakour's (dark-haired backup singer) father was music director and keyboard player for Joe Cocker in the 70s and 80s. I knew her father, and Cliff Goodwin, lead guitarist and also a music director for Joe Cocker, while growing up in Worcester, MA.

Were they as musical as I'd think? Was it great?
@JaniceKrinsky

@@tdrewke Absolutely!!! Worcester, MA was a hotbed of musical talent back in the 60s and 70s and today too. In addition to Mitch and Cliff, there is John Lurie and his brother Evan of The Lounge Lizards, a former avant garde jazz band out of NYC. If you like fine arts films, you can also find John Lurie in Paris, Texas, Down by Law, and others and has written at least 20 screenplays. Then there is Alison Porter, the daughter of another wildly popular local musician, Ric Porter, who was part of the local storied band Zonkeraz. Alison made appearances in Parenthood and Stella and starred in Curley Sue (1991) with Jim Belushi. In 2016 she was the winner of season 10 of The Voice. Two members of New Kids on the Block were born in Worcester. Going back further in time, there was Orpheus. One of their hits, "I Can't Find the Time to Tell You" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-poGDM3zaq9M.html was also covered by Hootie and the Blowfish. Orpheus is active again. Worcester also always had active jazz and folk scenes. Not sure about jazz now, but folk is still going strong. The last of my family left Worcester in 1992 and I don't get to visit friends there as often as I would like.
