I want to give hope to younger viewers. I'm 35, with very oily but clear skin (finally). My teens and 20s were a red, lumpy, cystic, whiteheaded mess that was also flaky and itchy. I was so depressed I gave up "looking after" my skin according to the typical advice - wash more with aggressive cleansers, use alcohol based toners, scrub multiple times a week and skip moisturiser. Instead I used warm water twice a day, sometimes with a face cloth. I wore no makeup. Very slowly my skin started to settle down, somewhat. I tried natural products but I was incredibly poor at the time so this was limited. Some things sucked my skin dry (like clay), others were too strong, or heavy. Manual exfoliation was limited to once a week. I realised I was allergic to synthetic fragrance (rash followed by painful acne) then learnt about the skin barrier and the affect certain ingredients had on it. There was still obvious issues but I no longer received pitying looks or comments. This year I moved towards “chemical” skincare by using squalene cleanser, salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. I now get amazed comments on how healthy and youthful my skin looks, sans makeup. My pores are smaller, blackheads less, the redness has gone, skin texture is even, less oily, smooth and soft. Hormone breakouts barely happen. My skin is happy and we're not at war anymore. There’s hope but it takes knowledge and patience. It is a slow journey as you try different things. For me by adopting the chemical approach in an age where people are terrified of anything that isn’t “natural” was key. Hyram, Liah Yoo and affordable brands were instrumental in that journey to great looking skin. Keep trying, oily skin doesn't have to be your enemy.

Hyram, I know you probably won't get this with the thousands of comments you receive, but I've had horribly oily skin ALL my life. Like... fry chicken off the oil from my face kinda oily.. Super embarrassing. It has been refreshing that FINALLY, SOMEONE WITH OILY SKIN is out there!! I love to learn from your videoes and the resources you provide. The hunt for effective products has been expensive and hopeless. I am 30, have kids, and a nurse. After watching your videos and doing research, I feel like I'm finally getting a skin routine for me. the first time I used the ordinary niacinamide serum was a few years ago when I didn't know what my skin liked. but recently I am using the good molecules niacinamide serum and I LOVE IT. it just made me realize that the ordinary one is very tacky and oily for my skin. @Ocean i think you're using a wrong cleanser. i used to face that. but now I've been using a bomb cleanser that helps my skin not get oily for a LONG time. both of those cleansers were matketed as gentle but the second one is bomb. also you can try using niacinamide to control oil and sebum on your face

@@bluraspbery i like the iunik centella bubbling cleanser. cosrx low ph cleanser is fine too(some people find it too stripping). la Roche poshay toleraine (idk the spelling sorry) cleanser is good too. also hemp matcha cleanser (it's too gentle for some extremely oily ppl) and Paula's choice clear cleanser is good too. (if you want salicylic acid benefits too) if you're in us you can try cerave salicylic cleanser. i can't get it in my country

Maryam Tarin I just used a bar of soap and st Ives on my face every day as a face wash, used dish soap, alcohol, wouldn’t use a moisturizer, essential oils, wore heavy makeup every day, etc. I was just young and trying desperately to get rid of my acne without the correct information :(

Absolute favourite sunscreen for Europe peeps who might be struggling to access K-beauty is the Eucerin Oil Control Gel-Cream SPF50+ It might not be the most exciting thing in the world but honestly it was a joy to use because it just sinks in so quickly but without being drying. It has two forms of licorice root extract in it as well. I have also heard that the Eucerin Sensitive Gel Cream SPF50+ is similar in consistency and ingredients, plus you can get it for £17 total to the UK from EasyParapharmacie in a 200ml tube (compared to £16 from Boots for the Oil Control one which is a 50ml pump)!
