It's a shame they couldn't get along as a band. In my opinion it was the most unique rock album of 1979. It had to have 5 or 6 songs that were top 20. Part of my life anthem is "and I would go on shining, Shiney like brand new. I never look behind me, my troubles will be few"..

When I was a kid (in the 90’s lol) I actually always thought this was Frankie Valli singing the falsetto. Since I’ve learned more about Supertramp, this has become one of my favorite songs of theirs. I’m so glad you’re getting to check them out, they have some fantastic songs. This whole album was great.

That beautiful high vocal is Roger Hodgson. And that amazing guitar solo is him too. He's been performing and touring live for the past 25 years solo and with his new band. He wrote most of the Supertramp songs and he's been performing them all over the world. He plays the piano, electronic keyboards and acoustic and electric guitars too. Check his channel out on RU-vid.

Rick sung the falsetto, with Roger backing. Roger wrote way less then half the songs of Supertramp, given that he left in 1983. You are fan boy and a liar.

Good ear. Yes falsetto singing like that was actually a hallmark of 1950s pop music. They put it to good use here to contrast with the other voice that is down in a chest register. And the repetitive aspect of it just drills itself into your brain. I would also say that the texture of this song in a lot of ways reminds me of later Beatles. That guitar at the end sounds to me like it has chorus, phase shift, wah pedal, and reverb on it. I bought this album in high school and played the hell out of it and of course all the hits from this and their other albums were on the radio very frequently.

I have been fortunate enough to have seen Supertramp “The Tramp” Live 3 times. Their live shows are a spectacle and brilliant. Each member is a musical genius. Rick Davies is my favorite keyboards player and John Helliwell is favorite Sax player. He is a blast to watch live. The bass and drummer are awesome and Roger’s guitars are superb. The only live show I put above Supertramp is Pink Floyd, who I have seen 4 times.

"Eclectic" comes to mind when I think of this band. I'm not sure if that's the correct word, but It's definitely meant as a compliment! maybe "unique" is a good word. If you really want to treat yourself, watch them perform all these songs when they toured to promote this album. In Paris I think.

I remember hearing this on the radio quite often back in "the day". I would generally listen to it if there wasn't anything better on another radio station. Personally, I prefer Supertramp's "Bloody Well Right" better. Needless to say, from watching your reaction videos over the past few months now, it seems obvious that you really love great guitar playing. And being that as it may, I would STRONGLY suggest you react to "Do You Feel Like We Do" from Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" album. His guitar playing is utterly fantastic! And back in the late 70's is when the "Heil" talkbox was first introduced. Basically, the Heil unit sends the sound of the guitar through a long plastic tube, and the sound of the guitar actually comes out the end of the tube. Then the tube was usually mounted to a microphone stand with the end of the tube next to a microphone. Then when the guitarist places the tube in his mouth, the sound of the guitar comes out into the cavity of his mouth. Then as he plays his guitar, he simply "mouths" the words he wants to say or sing, and the sound of his guitar coming from the end of the plastic tube becomes his voice. Several bands experimented with the "Heil" talkbox, like Joe Walsh in "Rocky Mountain Way", and even David Gilmour of Pink Floyd in the song "Pigs: Three Different Ones". But no one else seems to have achieved what Peter Frampton did in his song "Do You Feel Like We Do". And the best version of this song is without a doubt from his "Frampton Comes Alive" album. I'll say this.....if you do this reaction and don't absolutely LOVE this song, I will never offer another suggestion.

I think that's still the biggest selling live album. I could be wrong because I've killed a few brain cells listening to frampton.. good stuff
