@@cybercomets7260 , So now every time someone has a one off situation during an accident then everybody on the planet should think it's a common occurrence? Buckle on my purse strap flew up and smacked me in the eye during a car crash - is nobody else supposed to use purses that have a buckle on the strap?
@@76482 This isnt a one time occurrence tho, this is something that has happened to alot of women, and im sure alot of people use while driving. It's just a hazard everyone should know about before they go driving.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this. I posted the same thing but didn’t want to sound mean or insensitive. I just thought it was a common knowledge thing though.
Yep. That could happen in a rollover. I like their advice to just remove the clip while in a car. Unfortunately, that's not always practical, but it will work most of the time.
20 years ago my sister and cousin got into a car accident and my cousin had one of these in her hair. It went into her head and it took hours to take it out. My mom said she remembers the screams se could hear from her when she arrived at the hospital when they were taking it out. My mom thought that my sister was the one screaming at the time but sadly she didn’t make it. 😔
Maybe it’s just me, I always thought it was dangerous and honestly uncomfortable to have a hair clip on while driving any way. But I truly hope the people who have encountered this kind of accident recover and heal quickly.
I think the point was that the fact she was wearing the clip caused her serious injury. It sounded like it wouldn't have been so serious otherwise. We don't have full control of whether or not we end up in an accident. Yes, we can do a lot to prevent it, but we do not have control over the drivers around us
How would a helmet have helped? the hair clip was still inside right it still would have dug into her head when pressure was exerted on it. Maybe not. Who would put a helmet on over a hair clip. LOLOLOL😂
WRONG - An ATV is what most people would call a quad or quadbike. What she was driving (or just riding along) was a sports UTV, which is a snowmobile/motorbike-powered offroad buggy. They're a bit unique because, since many important parts come from snowmobiles, most of them don't have gears and use a CVT (the kind of transmission seen in scooters, snowmobiles, jetskis, some cars like the Prius and more) instead.
@@DiegoRuiz1991 well technically youre WRONG cuz a utv is technically an all terrain vehicle....not sure what you were trying to prove there but same damn difference. No different than calling it a buggy or a side by side...
Maybe that claw clip took brunt of the force or redistributed the force and saved her skull from being smashed to smithereens. Maybe the claw clip altered the trajectory or prevented neck contact and saved her from being paralyzed.
That is what I'm saying! If the impact was hard enough for the hair clip to cause a puncture wound than it is safe to say that it may have saved her head from being hit even harder
I find them uncomfortable while driving cause my clips bang the head rest making my neck sore but I never thought of it injuring your head. I put mine in once I’ve parked at where I was going
I had already stopped wearing them in the car. They push my head forward, where they touch the headrest, and after a previous neck surgery, it’s just really uncomfortable and annoying. Poor girl! I’m glad she has shared this story, because I will no longer wear one if I’m riding an ATV, either.
44 years in fire and ems I have never seen this happen. Wearing a helmet would have been a better choice. Checking the NTS and DOTD I don't see any mention of hair clips
One’s head could still make contact with the roof, so top-of-head may not be safe either. Wow, this is an eye opener but it also makes sense. Any item we add to our clothing or hair or body while driving - or anything that is loose in the car - can cause damage in a crash.
These hair clips have been around for years… how’s it barely making news? I used to wear them in high school 20 years ago. Still use them when I’m styling my hair.
Same as cotton buds/swabs. I've been using it for years until people started saying that it is dangerous blah blah blah but still I can buy it from almost everywhere. Also bottled water. Anything is dangerous nowadays.
The little butterfly clips got banned in my primary school. Two kids ran into each other head on and they ended up causing injuries to both of them. That was over twenty years ago, cant recall specific details but I still remember how much it freaked me out when I was little kid.
I'm so sorry all these injuries happened to these people. It must have been scary and painful..😢 I remember when these hair clips were popular when I was a teenager 20 years ago, and they weren't dangerous at all!! So strange. The only scary thing I remember is seeing them clipped to my sisters headboard and scaring my dad because it looked like a giant spider! 😂😂
I saw the first lady's claw clip injury story on TikTok on my fyp I think. Before I saw it, I saw another lady explaining why you shouldn't wear claw clips while driving & I didn't believe at first until now.
I don't know who has a more pathetic life. The people who thought that this was an important life saving video, or me for actually watching it. I'm going with the people who commented "great idea! It might save my life! Never thought that wearing a hair clip while driving a SUV would be dangerous, I'll tell everyone!"
In 1998 I was in a rear end accident, and was wearing a hair clip, because of how hard my head hit the headrest I also had 8 puncture marks on the back of my head, and was also bleeding.... I was hit by a guy at 65mph while I was stopped on traffic, causing my car to spin 180 degrees..... It took me years to wear hair clips again while driving, and I also changed up the style of hair clip as well as placing it higher on my head....
I bet she will try and sue the hair clip company now. She actually should be happy she was wearing one. If that roll over was hard enough for a clip to cause a puncture wound imagine what her head would of looked like if she didn't have that protecting her head? That's the way I see it.
What I find scarier is her not wearing a helmet while in the ATV. Can’t wear the clip with a proper fitting helmet. As for in the car, good idea not to wear them, but anything in your car can injure you.
The hair clip expert is someone who owns an automechanic shop? 😂 Then, She does realize when you get in a wreck, the roof can crush down like a tin can right? You don’t want a hair clip on top of your head either.
Any vehicle with a roll cage requires a helmet to actually keep you safe. Otherwise you've just inserted a bunch of different places to smash your skull into. It's like claiming a pen in your shirt pocket could stab you through the heart when you're thrown from the car. Yes, but a seatbelt would solve being thrown from the car at all.
That's why hair bands exists, and yeah I was frighten of hair clips when I was little because of how scary they look. Good thing I don't wear hair clips at all anymore.
The advice SHOULD have been “Wear a Helmet!” Like everyone said in the comments anything you have on you can injure you in an accident. This is the stupidest video. Thanks again inside edition for riveting news
It is horrible what happened and that should NEVER happen to anyone ever. But, she was in an ATV which flips over often, and if she was riding one of those shouldn't she have a helmet? This doesn't happen often and it's not THAT dangerous to drive with a claw clip in your hair unless you get into an accident, but can we also realize the fact that anything can be dangerous if you get into an accident.
It's not only claw clips it's a ponytail in the back of your head also. Being hit from behind and having your hair in a ponytail the force in the middle of your upper neck against the headrest will guarantee a cervical disc out.
A lot of people in here saying anything be dangerous in an accident 🙄. If the accident happened you hope to be able to walk away with it with minor injuries. Don't put your feet on the dash on the passenger side the airbags will break your legs. It doesn't hurt to think ahead consider potential dangers. Something simple in the car May cost you months in the hospital or potentially permanent damage.
Manufacturers of hair clips will now have to update their *product packaging* with *warnings* of potential harm when wearing their hair clip while riding a 4 wheeler. 😆
I didn't get the gashes because the clip broke when we were rear-ended. But I did have level 4 whip lash. I wouldn't have had whip lash so badly had my head and neck weren't stopped short of the head rest. Wish I had known about this years ago when the accident happened. Be safe ladies.
I fell off the ladder at work. I hit the back of my head on the floor. If it hadn't been for the clip in my hair. I think that my head would have busted open.
1. Why was she not wearing a helmet? If she had a helmet on the hair clip wouldn't have fit on her head. 2. She wasn't driving a car...she was in a side × side...HUGE DIFFERENCE. And 3. WHERE WAS HER HELMET?????
No Im not taking the last lady advice. One of the girls car literally flipped, why would you place it on top of your head? So my eyes bulges out? No, just take it out when you’re driving.
My recommendation is to not use these clips at all. In the 8th grade, I had a friend wear a small one. We were laughing really hard and she fell backwards out of her chair. She hit her head on the ground. The clip broke and went into her skull.
🤷this is WHY when you get on a roller coaster they ask you to remove everything to avoid injuries. This is no different. Just because you're in car with accessories, doesn't mean their not going to get embedded if you get into an accident.
Some better advice is just use a soft Scrunchie instead it’s more delicate and holds hair just as good . Who has time to worry about a claw clip injury ..
Years ago a friend from my work her daughter was driving a go-kart and those go-karts have like fans in the back for the motor oh, she had her hair in a ponytail and it got caught in the fans of the go-kart it totally ripped her entire scalp out she had to be airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. We always share these things with others so that we can be aware of what could happen
An atv is totally different than an actual car. Also an accident will cause this to happen in any car or vehicle. As the lady said put it on top of your head
Forget accident... Why would anyone even wear a claw clip while driving? That thing is very uncomfortable, in the sense that you can't even rest your head properly.
Someone mentioned putting it on top of your head instead. Not a good idea either. I always used to put my reading glasses on top of my head when driving. I had a roll over accident and even wearing a seatbelt, my head hit the roof and broke my glasses on top of my head. Bleeding mess but minor injury. Something as thick as a hair clip would clearly do a lot more damage.
That thing has been in the market for generations without issues.. can someone tell these princesses to grow a pair of bowls, pay attention to the road and wear a helmet??
