Man you just remind me, my wife has brand new quality Kalimba buried in the back of our closet… 🙌🏻 Ive had a PO33 which I love, for a few years now (it’s in my pocket now) but just got the KOii and I’m obsessed… been sampling EVERYTHING so this will be great.. props man, now I gotta go make a mess 😂
Hey lovely! Just one thing, why sampling the Kalimba as a percussive sample instead of a regular melodic one (that way just sampling one note it automatically creates all the others using much less memory on the device, am sure u know!)… just asking to understand if there is a technical reason for this choice?
I imagine because all the notes then sound distinct rather than just the same sample pitched up. Also, you're then stuck with the default scale of the PO-33
Changing the pitch of a single sample saves storage space, but the volume and timing are the same, which can be boring when listened to over and over again. I feel that variations in chop timing and volume affect the groove (of course, there are many cases where a single sample is sufficient in some cases).
