I love the one guy who said in the chat that the 80's turtles don't hold up... and yet it's the only older TMNT show that is still getting new content on a regular basis. They must've been doing something right to remain this culturally relevant while other animated versions of TMNT have come and gone and become footnotes in the long run. Said footnotes even made fun of and outright degraded the 80's series and it's characters in their time, but look who got the last laugh...
Mike is OP in the game. I have played through a few times now. The combo that you can do with him is so broke... y y y y+b y y y. This is 3 attacks than 4 hit knock up, a downwards kick followed by 2 more attacks on the ground. It is a 9 hit combo every time and only the rhinos and the black ninjas can survive the combo. It says he has the shortest attack and medium damage. It is all lies top tier toon, even over the secret characters you get to unlock. Also that combos are important. they add additional scores. scores unlock your new moves, increase life and grant more lifes. There is a list of these upgrades in the sewer selection screen. All love. keep up the good work
@Ryu you can change characters while being in story mode, if you haven't found that out yet. You need to hit whatever the back key is on the switch, which then exits you from the "world" map and then you basically back out again, when you see the turtle you have selected, so that's the second back then you can select a new character without starting story mode again,
This looks fun! I miss the old arcade style beat-'em-ups. I'm still at the beginning of the video. I like how they have the foot soldiers doing office work as you're approaching!
This looks like the good kind of modern update to a solved formula. There's definitely an air of nostalgia, but it isn't cynical, and it isn't the main feature.
Arcade Mode is the real Hard Mode (no unlimited continuous, no upgrades etc,). In Story Mode you will be very fast overpowered because of the upgrades, even on Story Hard Mode.
I feel like the taunt system was a mistake. I get that they are trying to reward you for doing something "risky", but really they are just incentivizing stopping the action. Seems like the special bar should build from keeping your hit combo going or something.
TMNT is an awesome game, but I dare you to play the new beat em up game called Final Vendetta on "hard". Warning, it's a shitty knockoff version of Streets of Rage which I regret paying for.
sorry Ryu i had to leave ur disc...junk comp cant handle too many channels :S....only 2 channel i keep active are 2 of my guilds ones(PSO/WoW)...for other channels i keep them around if i'am active with said streamer content....i come back someday though(either when active watch or non-junk comp)
I thought this game came out on the 16th. Today is the 18th and I went to go buy it from GameStop but they said it don’t come out til the 31st of July! Did I miss something?
I can’t be the only one who thinks the new artwork isn’t very good. During gameplay, the Turtles heads are too big, April looks too haughty and not kind enough, and weapons like Leo’s look flat and off perspective. Ok rant done.
everything in life is repetitive with enough time engaged. show me one game without a game loop of repetition and ill show you a teapot that orbits between earth and mars
The singing for the intro is all whack. Not cool at all. Butchery of a classic TV intro. DotEmu should have just asked use the 1st series (1987 cartoon) intro and just remastered that. Also the boss music is not as good as Turtles 2 and Turtles 4. The first level gives out massive Turtles 2 TAG vibes. The map and Turtle van is huge Turtles 1 vibes. 3PM, the huge Turtles 4 vibes. Got all the nostalgia vibes perfect. Still waiting for a Turtles 3 reference though.
Disappointing...another blunder in this franchise. AI sucks, bosses and enemies hit edges (or whatever) and get dizzy. They act as if they don't see our character and move with an already established pattern. On top of that, with two hits you take away half their life, horrible. It looks like a mobile phone game...
the majority of people love this game, so its actually a success. looks nothing like a phone game.. it looks like a game from the 90s and that was the intention.
I just spent the day playing through this game a couple times...I love it! I saved gnarly difficulty for my second playthrough, and it's a lot easier once you're more familiar with the game. Good skill cap, I foresee lots of replayability, and I haven't even jumped into multi-player yet!
I'm not a big fan of TMNT but I must admit, this game is amazing! The gameplay seems fun, the musics are awesome and graphics are adorable :3 You can feel that developers of this game are passionated of this universe! Btw I love the fact that in this world most of the bosses are bodybuilders xD
For those of us who are a bit older and used to play in the arcades, this is clearly based off the gameplay of the original TMNT arcade game but of course got some upgrades and better graphics! This style seems to be traditional in most TMNT games I've played. Even the cut scenes were kept in the traditional arcade style (stills with subtitles and limited motion). Back then we only had basic attacks (as we only had 2 buttons and a control stick) but hitting both buttons would do a heavy attack which was the same regardless of what character you used tho some had farther reach then others. So, it seems they took what worked from the old and added in some new and presto...you have a fun TMNT game to play!
i kinda like the visual style of this game. i was really turned off by the cartoony visuals in streets of rage 4, i think that game should have more realistic looking visuals like the genesis games, but in this game cartoony visuals make a lot more sense. i never did play streets of rage 4 but i might pick this one up.
Currently dealing with a heat wave in France. My solution : watching Ryu play with ice in Channel 6 studios. Works fine. This game looks amazing, looking forward to more !
I've been waiting for a new TMNT game since Turtles in Time. Can't believe some one actually made a new one! My new kitten just chose this vid with her lil paw Ryu is officially #kittenapproved Update - she is engrossed in the gameplay. I guess I have to watch! Lol
The first 5 episodes of original Turtles cartoon holds up really well (i.e. season one). It was funny, but had heart to it and told a great story with pretty great animation. It's after the first season (i.e. the first 5 seasons) that things dipped and got worse with each season.
Like dark souls :: I would like to see someone beat this without dying.. then beat it without taking a hit.. THEN... do it with more than one turtle .. that would be epic and I would pay to see a legit video on those things
I imagine it's because a lot of people grew up with the cartoon back in the day,or for those who didn't get to experience tmnt back then want to dip their toes into the franchise which I don't mind at all I love TMNT and this game is fantastic
The coolest thing about this game by far is that they got the original voice actors for the 80s cartoon show to voice the turtles again. I couldn't quite tell if that was Cam Clarke voicing Leo when you started playing, so I looked it up, and all 4 turtles are their original voice actors. (My personal favorite being Rob Paulson, who voices Raphael) Edit: Gotta hard disagree with the "80s cartoon doesn't hold up" claim in the chat. That show has a ton of good one liners (most of them from Raphael).
